Well, it's official- my son takes after his dad!! He is always whacking something on his body and getting a 23 month old to put an ice pack on the bump is like chasing a chicken!!!

I read about salves and ointments that you can put on for bruising, but what could I use on his face? He got whacked in the eye and cheek today (And of COURSE I have a doc's appointment tomorrow- can't wait for the stares!!) Anyone have any ideas??

Thanks.
Cheers,
Heather

We use Swedish bitter for bruising, but not on the eye. Easy brusining can be due to a lack of Vit c in the diet, just a thought.

I echo kissmekate and the Burt's Bees Res-Q ointment. It contains Comfrey. Comfrey/comfrey root is a healng powerhouse. Also called boneset.

Great for minor cuts and bruises!

It's supposed to heal so fast some caution against using it on deep cuts for fear the cut will heal over too quickly and cause an abscess.

I can attest to Arnica oil too. I like to mix it w/ lavender essential oil that I get at my local natural food Co-Op. I also like the Burt's Bees Res-Q onitment too.

Arnica gel will take the bruises right out! I have a blood condition that makes me bruise easily and it works wonders!

Some herbal salve with Calendula would be great. I don't know for sure where you can get it, I'm going to start growing Calendula this year so I can make my own. I bought some from a local girl, but she isn't selling anything other than locally, ever. It really works wonders though.

Self-heal, I understand, is also good for contusions.

One of the farmgirls posted about a week or so ago, showing an items she makes; it's a rice filled boo-boo wrap in cute fabric that you keep in the freezer until needed. It had a cute name but I am forgetting it right now. Anyway, it looked like just the ticket for getting the little ones to keep the cold pack on a little longer. Hopefully they will post it again here for you. Poor little guy...

Burt's Bees Res-Q Ointment works on bruises and minor cuts too.

You can buy that at your local health food store, Target , Walgreen's-but you probably knew that.

Oh..ow!!! On the face you will have to be careful of course, around the eyes...but I LOVE Farm At Coventry's bump and bruise balm (blueeggbabe here) www.farmatcoventry.com I am the queen of "fence bruises" on my upper arms...and it helps heal them up fast.
My second son was always bruised or had a fat lip when he was little..that poor kid fell constantly..it was embarrassing to take him to town!!
