Posted - Sep 14 2007 : 12:51:04 PM Well it looks like I got the first head cold of the season. I have been wiped out with sinus pain and pressure since last night.
Nora isn't feeling to great either- Good thing she is a sweet baby and is being easy to care for!
I hope you all are staying healthy- this isn't much fun!

Posted - Sep 20 2007 : 7:32:47 PM Hi Alee.. Just caught my first cold from my son. I took the advice of my dad and bought a bottle of "Natures Way Sambucol", the orginal black elderberry extract. I bought it at my local healthfood store. And it does help. I felt crappy this morning, bought it, took 2 doses throughout the day(2 ts) and by 4:00 I was feeling good enough to go to my jazzercise class. I am now on the elderberry bandwagon, lol

Hi Alee,
You probably know this, but I always find dairy products make my head even more stuffed up, so I stay away from them when I have a cold. Clear liquids are best, and rest.
I work in a public place where I am exposed to tons of germs, and I take a product called Cold-FX during cold season (Sept-April). (I take the daily preventative dose). It really seems to work, and I have converted my coworkers to it, too, and everyone here is much healthier! It contains a derivative of ginseng, which is supposed to boost your immune system. It is endorsed by many athletes, and you can find out more about it at www.coldfx.com
I think it is available in the USA now. |

Posted - Sep 18 2007 : 09:09:03 AM Alee-I go through this now and again despite my best efforts. I get hit once hard int he Spring and once hard in the Fall. What works for me-ESPECIALLY at night- is to put 10 drops of eucalyptus oil, 10 drops of lavender oil and 10 drops of tea tree oil onto a hanky or a folded paper towel and inhale it now and again to relieve the pressure and to breathe easier through your sinus and for your chest congestion.
I also get Rob to give me a sinus massage. It REALLY helps! Hope you feel better soon!

Posted - Sep 18 2007 : 08:55:18 AM I still have the sniffles but that might be allergies. Doug's is moving into his chest- poor guy. Nora seems to be doing better, but she is a bit sniffly too.
I hope you and your family start feeling better soon!
