Here's more background for those who are intersted. Snopes is a great place to check out reports like this. Sometimes you find out it's all hooey. Sometimes you find out it's the real deal. Sometimes, like many other things in life, its a little of both :-) http://www.snopes.com/medical/drugs/ppa.asp

Yeah Alee you can never be to carful. I do think as a whole americans have a very relaxed view of over the counter medications. They are still DRUGS! Caution should always be used. We (myself included) just assume that if it's sold in the store it is safe. We always need to read the lables and check with your doctor if you are taking more than one thing at a time. This goes for herbal medications as well. Many of these can have adverse effects when combined or used with over the counter meds. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for clearing that up, Julie! Someone just emailed me that and I decided to share it just in case. It sure gives you a heart attack when you read recalls about medicine doesn't it?

Hey guys! This recall info is from around 1998 - 2000. Most if not all of these companies have voluntarilly removed or reduced the amount of PPA in their products. All products are also now printed with a warning. Further research has found that the drugs, while dangerous are not as severly dangerous as was originanlly reported. As of 2005 The FDA has since amended and deleted multiple paragraphs from thier original report.

Most of the individuals that had problems were using Diet pills. And although PPA is found in other products most of the people were MISUSING the diet pills and taking more than the perscribed amount in effort to lose weight quicker.

If you have any medications that still contain PPA and do not take more than the recommended dosage and do not use more than one product at a time you should not have any problems.
