Well..the neck bone's connected to the...Jeez..I'm already lost..!

First we had the "I broke my Wrist" Then the " I broke my face"
NOW!!
I broke my dang foot!!
We are a mess here!!
Saturday morning a was taking the dogs out.. feeding all of them & the cats.. ( you know.. the ones i DON"T have!)
& as I was turning around to head to the next door neighbors to go take care of all of THEIR critters.. I stepped in a ressesed spot in the grass.. ! I heard what sounded like a snap.. or pop.. & felt instant pain.. (& had some really bad pain for about a half an hour..) took me just a few minutes to get inside.. ( No.. i didn't make it over to the neighbors.. ) I went straight over to MY own back yard. !
I yelled a few times to my Husband..who naturaly did not respond..
By the time I did get to the back door.. I was fairly pissed off..
At myself for being so stupid.. & him for not hearing me.. At the dogs for just standing there loooking at me.. At the cats.. for not being mine! & at the stupid neighbors for going on vacation.. thus causing me to have to walk in the direction of thier house & make me walk on the path that led to that stupid hole!
So.. as i said.. severe pain for nearly half an hour.. immediate swelling..
Which I had time for neither!
We were in preparation for a Birthday Party for our 7 year old Neice Alexis.. To Where we were going to have to drive about an hour and a half to!
UGH!! I did not have time for this crap!
Luckily.. I knew what we were all going to wear.. So.. we got ready.. left the house by 10:30am.. made a few scheduled stops.. & Were at my Brother in law's about an hour & a half before the REAL Party was supposed to begin..
*foot note* Ever been to a Birthday Party for a 7 year old that had a D.J. ? with a Luau theme.. everyone dressed the part.. even she in her grass skirt & cocoanut bra..
hhhmmm.. My first.. & one thing i kept thinking to myself.. As i sat near the pool in my black & white sun dress & my ever growing , swelling foot.. I Wonder what they plan on doing for this kid when she turns 16?
Ever see that television show.. "Pimp My Ride?"
well, the party was full of teeny little " Alexis' " & I kept thinking of the show.. & the D.J. & the 16th birthday party..
&, I know.. here I go again.. I'm sure it was the pain killers.. But i blended the two.. & I came up with.. "pimp my kid"..
Wonder what that show would be like..?
ok.. off the track again.. Sorry..!
So.. we made it home about 10:30pm..

Sunday was My Youngest Son Josh's 27th Birthday.. We had a nice safe get together at Our house..
(The kids always plan the menu the day of their Birthday..)
Josh chose Nachos.. Dad made Nachos..
Good for Mom.. She felt like total crud! ALTHOUGH.. the Mojito's & the Darvecet were beggining to be a great combination!
Didn't sleep to well Sunday though..
The swelling was irritating.. I'm thinking now..
Looking back, it was the fact that my foot was swelling so much.. my toes had started to.. invert .. so it seemed.. into the swelling foot.. like the head of a Turtle..
Well.. I'm still thinking, sprained ankle.. right?..
I mean really.. there was nothing poking out.. everything LOOKED fine.. & although I may look like Bertha Butt just about everywhere else.. My feet & ankles are normally thin..
I'd see a broken bone dang it!

So.. Monday.. Stayed home from work.. as I really just felt pretty yucky.. But.. that odd swelling.. Ya know?
But about 3pm Monday I thought.. ya know.. Maybe I should give my Primary Dr. a call see what they say.. I called.. they said..
"Hey.. we can get you in 1st thing Tuesday morning.."
After they said something like.... " Why did you wait so long you stupid idiot?"
So went to see Fred.. ( That's what I call him when he's not aggrevating me..) he says it looks ok. but just to be sure.. He was sending me for an X-Ray..
Fun.. I knew there was something ELSE i really wanted to do today!! & yes.. THAT was it!
So , I went & sat down there for about 2 1/2 hours..
they took me in.. took some picture.. after of course determining that I was positivly SURE that i was NOT pregnant!
& you know.. How they USUSALY say.. ok.. we'll call your Dr. with the results? & he had even told me that HIS office would call me back in 24 hours..
& While i was in the back.. sitting with 4 other people with our cute paper dresses & our underware showing in the back.. waiting for them to make sure our pictures all came out clear..
THEY all get that speach.. "O..We'll call your Dr. with the results" THEN.. she looks at me.. & as if I am being summoned to the Principles office or something.. she said.. "Sally.. I need you to come with me please" I said "why.. what'd I do!"
(SEE how it all comes back to ya!)
SHE DIDN"T ANSWER ME RIGHT AWAY!!
she takes me to another room!! & To a desk with two other people behind it.. & she says.. " Sally, You DO have a fracture.. I need you to sign for your film.. & take these back to your Dr. right now..Please.. I'm sorry.."
I was like.. WHAT??
It was the weirdest dern thing!
For One thing!! I've had Tons of X-rays.. MRI's & CAT Scans!
& They Will NEVER tell me a thing!! EVER! Even when i try to coax it out of them!!
& this one not only TELLS me.. But acts as if she's just given me 24 hours to live or something! How feaky was that!
So.. i sign for the poison she just handed me..
& Went out to call my Dr.
He's at LUNCH! & they've closed the office for lunch!
I mean really.. who DOES THIS???
So.. I called the service.. Told this guy what was going on.. he said drive over there anyway.. & wait in the waiting room.. they'd be open.. So.. I did.. finally was able to speak to Fred's Nurse.. apparently Fred had been allerted to the situation already by the Angel of Death at the Imaging Center already too.. because Fred had ALREADY hooked me up with an Orthopedic Dr for 3:15 today!
So.. I made it over there..
HE said the break did NOT require surgery.. or EVEN a CAST!!
He felt that due to the nature of the break..
An odd little fracture really along the bottom part, Near the outer side of my heal.. & my ankle !
& he said I had two choices.. the smaller.. Ankle type boot.. Which he felt would work, & do just fine.. or the larger combersome one that would offer a bit more protection..
I opted for the smaller of the two.. as I just don't see me walking around looking like a Bionic One footed Robo Cop!

The Plus side of all this..
Guess who is feeding the crazy neighbors Critters?
Not I !!

Have I ever mentioned that my Husband actually dislikes them & avoids them even more then I do?
Having to be Feeding their animals isn't helping.

I was out hanging laundry yesterday, and that silly bird is still flying around town. This time I just listened to him. I hope a hawk doesn't end his happy little vacation prematurely. It really is a good time of year to be an escaped bird, weather's not so bad, plenty to eat. I hope he gets rescued before cold nights come.

We make a difference.

Oh Michelle,
Ouch girl, no we are not starting a broken parts club. I refuse!!!!!!
Now girls this is enough of this....
Rats, no bird after all that.
Miss Kathie are you behaving

Enjoying life.
Huckelberrywine Posted - Aug 07 2007 : 11:34:46 AM
Darn bird. No. He was also enjoying his freedom of movement. Can't say I blame him. Even downloaded and played cockatiel songs to lure him in. He came in close, landed in the tree instead of circling the town. But he didn't want to come down, and I wasn't going up. I know someone misses their pet bird.

We make a difference.

Well, I'm with you in the mindset of going barefoot as much as possible! More importantly, were you successful rescuing the escaped cockatiel?

Yep, Jo, I was laughing so hard that I lost control of my limbs and broke that little toe on the table. LOL. Nothing quite so fun, and my story isn't as good.

I was trying to rescue an escaped cockatiel, and while I was looking up, my foot found a log. Just call me grace. Fortunately/unfortunately there isn't a whole lot you can do for a broken pinky toe. Taped it to the other toe, and that supports it enough. I don't get a fancy boot option. :) Or a Dr. bill. Oh, the agony of de feet. Guess this is the downside of going barefoot as much as possible.

We make a difference.

Kathie, I hope your foot continues to heal quickly.

Michelle, sorry to hear about your toe! How'd you break it? Reading this post? LOL.

I am going to move along now, beause I dopn't need any broken bones. DH dropped a piece of equipment on his foot and probably broke something in his foot over a month ago, but who needs a doctor? He's now considering seeing someone, since it still hurts.

I was running scared two years ago when three of my neighbors each broke their arm...it all happened within about 8 months of each other! That was so weird; but we took turns cooking for each other, and they were teasing mne that I was next...but so far, so good.

Hope everyone heals quickly!

Kathie, how are you doing this week? I just loved reading your post. Wish I'd paid more attention to your advice, I broke my toe yesterday! There IS a broken bug going around.

I love your sense of humor, and your storytelling is phenomenal! Life happens, and we all have the power to choose how to take it. I just love to hear when someone takes it "in stride" (sorry couldn't resist) and makes mojitos when they get limes. :)

Cheers to you! And your foot! Love your story.

I'm so sorry you broke your foot. I was laughing at the post but it was a good natured laugh. I hope you start to feel better.

Thanks Babies for your well wishes!!

I'm actually at work today..
& am wondering if maybe THIS was yet another stupid Kathie/Lucy idea..
Apparently having twinges of pain.. being exceptionally crabby.. CAN"T possibly be a good thing for people that have to call me & beg for favors.. can it?
ok.. I'm sticking with one word today.. "NO!" "Because i said so.. thats Why!" yes.. that was more then one word.. but the add on's were if they asked for a reason.. I'll be sure to let ya know how this works..!

Janet, I was thinking the same thing; Kathie, you have everybody rolling in their seats I am sure. I kept thinking as I read along, "this chick is ready for prime time"! Keep your sense of humor. That is a very valuable asset that money can't buy! And everybody with broken and sprained anythings, take good care! Nance

You made me laugh out loud, Kathy. And I'm not having a good work day, so I needed to laugh. Thanks-LOL! I'm sorry about your pain, but your whole post was one VERY hilarious "FOOT NOTE":D !!

Look on the bright side, you can sit by the computer with your foot up on the desk and be a little post-a-holic.

Nice post, to bad it had to include bad news. But good news that you don't have to wear a very hot cast for the rest of the summer. I would recomend that you drink a lot more milk. HA. I would also suggest that when leaving the house you bring a whistle, at least that might get the dogs to notice you.
