After a long wait to get in I have my appt with the lung doctor up north today. I feel fine right now so it is hard to make myself go. I am home for an hour just until the little girl I babysit for gets picked up (took all the kids to swimming lessons this morning) at 12:30 then I am off by myself. I do look forward to treating myself to a stop at Good Earth and maybe a good thrift store if there is time. We will see. I can maybe stop at CalRanch for a new halter for Mona too. She deserves a treat today after her baby leaving home yesterday, right??
I really don't expect there to be any big news on stuff I can do right now for the emphysema but it will be good, I guess to have a baseline visit. I hate going to the doctor. Dosn't make me nervous, just irritated that I am wasting time.

I'm glad your doctor doesn't expect emphysema. Also that the tests are all scheduled for the same day. I'm praying for you....

Hi, Jenny,
Glad your "Jr Dr's" appt went well. It would be great if he is right and you don't have emphysema because I think sleep apnea is much more controlable. At least you've started the process and just need to do a bit more testing to find out (easy for me to say!). At least you have the farm to go back to...such a blessing.
Thinking of you.

Oh Sherone..I bet she really is suffering..we still are hazy here and we are an hour north of her! This fire is just scary!! If you go down to visit her some time be sure to stop in here! I would love to meet you!
About the lung stuff..I have a hard time not being really irritated that I am the ONLY one in my family I grew up in who never did smoke and I am the one who gets this! Second hand smoke is really as bad as they say!
Kathy...glad yours was just asthma. (just!!) sounds bad enough though!! I havn't had the test with the tiny booth yet so that must be one of the ones coming up.

Glad to hear your news. Sounds like a good young doctor. Hope the tests go well, and that you can have a smoother day that day. I know what you mean about being glad just to be at home! I have felt that way before. Enjoy!

I love Cal Ranch and I love Provo, but I don't love the fact that you might have COPD. My Mom has it, (smoked for 35 years) and she is suffering right now with all the smoke. (She lives in Richfield) If I were there, I'd give you a big hug and tell you that it will be okay, Okay?

Hugs,

Sherone

Jenny I had no idea that you were having lung issues. Last year I went through a whole battery of tests for a similar problem and it turns out to be just asthma. I did all those lung function tests and they weren't bad except when I had to be closed up in this tiny booth thing, I don't like small closed in spaces. Anyway my thoughts and prayers are with you
hugs, Kathy

Jenny,
So glad that your specialist paid attention and that he is double checking. Tests are a pain, but they will help them know exactly what is going on, that is a good thing.
Enjoy fishing!!!!!!!

I really got the feeling that this doctor was ticked off that my doctor jumped the gun and told me what she assumed it was before a specialist looked at my test results and stuff. He did say that it COULD still be that, but I am sure hoping now that it isn't!! Wouldn't that be cool? It will be nice to know for sure. I have just decided not to worry about any of it until I have to. I have better things to do!!

Well, things went pretty well at the doctor..he WAS awfully young, but very nice and sure did spend a long time talking to me...longer than any doctor I have been to EVER. He ordered a bunch of stupid tests so I have to do all that (Sleep study thing, high resolution CT scan and a full pulmonary function something) we got it coordinated (3 different places!!! ) all in one day so even though I will have to spend the night up in Provo for the sleep study it will only be one trip up there. Still..jeesh!
But..he said it is quite possible that it isn't emphysema at all, but COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) or that and asthma with it, which still dosn't sound good, but sounds better to me. He said he really thinks I have sleep apnea and that could well be what is causing my high blood pressure. Makes sense I guess. Anyway..I will get answers I guess. He said after these tests he will know for sure.
I didn't get to do very much shopping..just the new red halter for Mona and a cute red farmgirl tee shirt for me at Cal Ranch. I will have to post a picture of it on my blog..just perfect. I forgot the paperwork I needed to take the the doc with me and didn't notice until 1/2 hour away from home. I had to turn around and go BACK to get it ...so that ate another hour up. I was tired by the time I got done at the doctor so I just went to cal ranch and then ate quickly at taco bell..which I am sorry for about now..haha...and headed home. Steve was nice enough to milk for me tonight...so Mona gets her new halter in the morning.
I have to go for all those tests on the 25th of this month. Meanwhile I plan to go fishing..haha. Tomorrow I am going to be happy to be HOME.

Hey, Jenny,
Good luck with your Dr's appt. Isn't body maintainance a drag?! Those Farmgirls of us, of a certain age, have a few challenges in front of us, but just look at what we left behind. You have the right spirit, Jenny, and I know you can do it. Look that Jr Dr in the eye (why are Doctors so young?), and tell him to make it quick cuz you've got some serious shopping to do.

Hope the doctor has positive things to say. Let us know how it went. I hope you got to thrift shop, too. Did Mona get her new halter?

Hi, Aunt Jenny. I didn't know you had emphysema. So does my uncle in Phoenix. He was doing quite badly when we visited in March, but I just heard that he's doing much better now on an Advair inhaler. Just a thought, if your doctor mentions it...Hope your appointment goes well.
Utahfarmgirl Posted - Jul 09 2007 : 12:31:46 PM
Jenny, emphysema? I didn't know! Well here we go again, another challenge for you to triumph over. And we know you will. Let me know if you need me to tell you about the color therapy again. Will work on you every night at prayer time until you can write and say, "It's gone!"

In the meantime, happy shopping. Let us know if you find anything wonderful!

Love,
Patricia
