I have an appointment at 7 am tomorrow at the dental surgeon's office. I haven't been in so long, and I broke a tooth off, then lost a crown that was next to it. Should have had it taken care of a year ago, but I'm so SCARED of the dentist I will do anything not to go. DH is making me. Send me good vibes tomorrow morning please! I'm not 100% sure yet that I'll get there after I leave home. I may just end up at Starbucks or something.

Looks like we will be up all nite with Sherri for a couple. Not to worry nothing to it! Just plan a reward for yourself to get when finished (not food) then focus on your reward and you will be out of there before you know it. But do not forget your reward!

They would have us commited..

But we'd STILL have fun!!!

Kathi and Sherri you crack me up. I think we should bring kathi along to make us laugh. I desperatly need to have teeth fixed, no insurance and no money.
Feeling sympathy, DD lavender fields dreamer is right now at the dentist and has a real fear of them. She may have to have the tooth pulled. Watching granddaughters.
Hang in there, get it done quickly then you can't dwell on it.

Ps, if we took Kathi with us and are laughing to hard, how would the dentist work......hmmmmmm

Enjoying the moments.

You are such a freak kathie, first nasal passage sinus irrigation, now the dentist....go make your mini aprons!!!

I used to be afraid of the dentist until 2yrs ago when I had my wisdom teeth out, and now I love going...so quiet, so laid back and falling asleep, just enjoy it!!! I certainly do!

I would love to bring Kathie to my appt. I'm sure I'd never even notice what they were doing in my mouth!

Hey Sherri...lets just bring Kathie along to our appointments. I'm sure she's better than the laughing gas. Love your sense of humor Kathie!

Babs- Thanks for the reassurance! I am just sick of dental issues. I had a pretty horrible bike wreck when I was 8 and have had to deal with it since. I am looking forward to this particular problem being done with! LOL

I found a great dentist through "The Gentle Dental" network. I probably haven't been in about 4 years and now need all sorts of work. So I feel your pain. It's not fun, but you need to take care of you and your mouth. Bacteria in your teeth can travel and make you sick in ways you wouldn't think to connect. Rotting teeth is very bad for people with serious health conditions.
Over all, it weakens your immune system because you are constantly fighting a minor infection. Try taking a fidget toy with you. I used to have a bunch of little palm sized plushies that I could squeeze or play with if I got nervous. It really helped. Good luck. :)

Alee, I had an implant done this year. I heard all kinds of stories about how it was such a terrible process and I got completely worked up over going in. You know it wasn't nearly as bad as anyone said? Having done it once, and having a tooth now that I know I can't break I would totally do it again.

Hugs to both - you'll be fine I'm sure!

Hi Sherri!

I certainly feel your pain! I have had 6 teeth out. 4 for orthodontics, 1 wisdom tooth, and 1 from a bike accident. I need to go get an implant done to fix the one that had to be removed due to the bike accident. I want to get it done before September. I am more worried about that implant then I was for the removals! *hugs!* I hope your visit goes well! I alway ask for the Nitrous (laughing gas) before they give me any shots. It really helps!

Well, I'm back from the oral surgeon. Three teeth have to come out. And the shocker (to me) is they want to do it Thursday - THIS Thursday, like day after tomorrow. I need time to get mentally prepared for this!! Hope I can find someone to drive me. It's about 45 minutes away. Maybe DH could take the day off........ (He'll keep me from cancelling too!)
Carolinagirl Posted - Jun 26 2007 : 07:40:51 AM
Oh- I had to go through the same kind of thing last year. One of my three remaining wisdom teeth broke in half, and while it wasn't hurting (yet), I knew it eventually would. I finally made the dentist appt, then the surgeon's appointment a week after that, and Husband Dear took me. I just kept telling myself that the extractions (went ahead and got all three out) would be over in less tha 15 minutes, and I felt better.

I hate the dentist too. Maybe you could take a portable music player and listen to music or a book on tape?...

Good luck-

Hey, that'd be doable - you're only in Victoria - just a short drive and a ferry ride away! Thanks for the encouragement.
DaisyFarm Posted - Jun 25 2007 : 11:40:30 PM
Oh boy Sherri, I can so relate. I broke a tooth last month and have another that if I get something cold on it, it just about puts me right through the roof...but I just cannot even pick up the phone to make the appointment. The thought gives me butterflies...actually more like hummingbirds in my stomach. Why is it that we feel like that going to a dentist? Nowadays, it is certainly painless. I'll make you a deal...I'll come and hold your hand and then you can come and hold mine!!
Hugs to you, I'll be jealous when you're done and I still have to go. haha

I'm so sorry you are scared. Take a deep breath and get it over with. I had a root canal a week after I had my baby. Getting the work done now sure beats the pain. Sending you positive thought for being strong and brave tomorrow.
