Posted - Apr 30 2007 : 08:22:16 AM For those of us trying to commit to losing a few pounds, I thought I would start this thread so our weigh-ins wouldn't get lost with all the recipes and helpful hints. So here goes:
Monday morning - April 30 - 173 lbs which I find totally confusing since two weeks ago at the doctor's I was 168. I'm going to attribute this to water retention and different scales!
I've learned that it takes as much time and energy to wish as it does to plan.

Posted - Jul 28 2008 : 10:38:19 PM LOL Probably not so much the pie- but eating a small meal about the size of your fist every 2 hours is supposed to rev up the metabolism. One summer I lost about 20lbs doing that diet and after the first week when my stomach was shrinking- I never felt hungry. I could eat double chocolate fudge cake if I wanted- as long as it was only the size of my fist...and then I had to suffer hunger for 1.5 hours after the sugar rush wore off! LOl

Posted - Jul 28 2008 : 07:11:24 AM Good Morning Ladies!
I just weighted my self- and you want to know what? My scale has a conspiracy against me. I stepped on and it said 166! WOW! But I thought "That can't be right!" So I cleared it and stepped on again- 172. No loss here- but at least no gain either! And I had a piece of Coconut Meringue Cream Pie yesterday. Very good, but luckily not one of my to-die-for flavors so I feel only a mild to go eat the remaining three slices.
I just wasn't feeling to great yesterday- emotionally or physically so I only ate a very small dinner. I need to remind myself to eat every few hours- just a little. I am trying to rev up my metabolism because I think it is asleep right now.

Posted - Jul 27 2008 : 7:03:48 PM Hello, I took a brief break from the computer. I am up to my eyeballs in produce from my garden and the farmers market that I help a friend run. It will all be well worth it this winter though!
Elizabeth I DID get your email! I will write you ASAP! What a rotten diet buddy, I will try harder, really!
Melanie, you are a sweetie! Thank you so much and I will let you know when it gets here.
It sure has helped to have all my friends here pulling for me. In fact, I lost 1 lb. this week. Can you believe I an UNDER my goal? Never thought I would ever be able to say that! Actually, I would like to lose about 7 more pounds for good measure. But, I don't care if it takes me awhile to do that. Best of luck to you in reaching your goals as well! |

Posted - Jul 27 2008 : 5:31:38 PM I'm starting a new thread on the kitchen board about healthy and weight release friendly meals, I'd love to hear from you ladies as well!
I've begun to attmept to call this my weight release instead of loss as suggested by my naturopath. Her thinking is that the idea of loss is a bad thing so possibly by using the term release it will help that mental part of me to not fell like this is a bad thing. I figure it can't hurt...lol

Posted - Jul 19 2008 : 06:48:43 AM Hi, farm ladies, I too have been struggling with my weight these last two years, as I am 'semi retired'. That 'semi retired' my muscles! So I want to unretire them and I have been working on eating organically and with my 'new allergies' in mind. I am down 8 lbs to 159. I flucuate up and down a few lbs every other day and can't stay below 160. I am currently working on the Suzanne Somers diet as it is really close to how I eat anyway, however, no meat allowed as I am allergic to all types of meat. I am ready to be healthy and fit!!! I'll keep checking in as it will motivate me more! Good health to everyone!
Find your joy and live it. |

Posted - Jul 16 2008 : 09:55:24 AM Cindy- You are awesome and such an inspiration! Keep up the great work and tell us how you did it!
This morning I was still at 174, but I think I am dehydrated and so am holding on to some water weight. I am going to concentrate on drinking water today. I'll weigh in again tomorrow and see if that helps. Plus I am going to start doing some sort of work out. Even if it is just doing crunches and push ups!

Posted - Jul 13 2008 : 9:08:41 PM Ok ladies, I could hardly wait to get on here and tell you that I finally got to my goal weight at W.W.!! Yep, it took me a whole year but I did it. I lost 70 lbs. and I don't mind telling you that I feel amazing! I do think I would like to lose another pound or two but I don't care if that takes me the rest of the summer to accomplish that.
Do you guys think that 70 lbs makes me the "Farmgirl biggest loser"? I don't know for sure but I bet it's a pretty safe bet!
For anyone needing a diet buddy, let me know, I'd love to help you out. If I can do it, you KNOW you can do it!!!! Keep up the good work and thanks for letting me brag a little, I did work pretty hard to get where I am! |

Posted - Jul 13 2008 : 07:05:04 AM Glad you bumped this Elizabeth! I found out the scale I had been using all spring had been uhm...very kind by shaving off 10lbs!
So my starting weight was 178 and I am down t 174.2. Not a great loss but at least I am losing again. This week I am going to really focus on water. I am feeling like my body really needs to flush itself and I know I have been drinking more lemonade and soda than I should!

Posted - Jul 13 2008 : 05:56:06 AM Bumping this up!
I'd gained back 5 of the 30 pounds I lost but I just stepped on the scale after awhile of not checking and found out I've lost that 5 and another 5 so I'm feeling good! It's been a rough summer with the good ice cream shops opening, there's a tasty custard shop near my sister's which is where I stay when I'm off from work. (I stay at my sister's, not the custard shop...lol) I have been trying to get the frozen yougurt when they've got a flavor I like, ordering smalls and really savoring the flavor instead of just gobbling it down. Can you tell, ice cream is a weakness for me...lol
How are all you ladies doing?

Posted - May 07 2008 : 11:15:01 AM When I first met my husband, Kim, I was at 111, that was 8 years ago, but then I got on bc pills after we married and I think that's where everything went a-rye...well, that and I love to cook. I joined a gym last year and ended up losing a little weight, but mostly just getting better "chest" muscles, arms and legs. It's not bad to have those things, but I seemed to maintain a similar weight, even with all the exercising and lower fat eating. So, dunno....maybe it's that whole metabolism thing they talk about! I use my mom as an example that it's possible, though, Kim.
When I was a senior in high school, at 5 foot 2, she weighed 148 and wore a size 10/12. The year I graduated, she joined weight watchers and lost 44 lbs and has kept it off all these years. She might weigh 108 now, but she's like a little bird and eats healthily, to boot.

I weighed in again this am (138...still) and have been drinking my water (Blech!) and eating lowfat/high fiber lunches. Seems like dinner's have been good for me, too, but I'd like to see more of a difference on the scale each week.
We are very close in size! I'm 5'4 too and if I could get back to 135 I'd be very happy. I'm 51 and I'm amazed at how much longer it takes to lose weight and get more muscle.
I've been doing the water/fiber thing too but the weight doesn't seem to be budging!
