My newest favorite hobby is my hand sewing projects. I've even started making kits to sell in my Etsy shop and have a YouTube channel doing tutorials. It is very fun and fulfilling. So it's more than a hobby for me.

Jean I am trying to do the same thing and use up what I have already, which is a mini store. I love making cards and sending them to friends and family and they love getting them.

Linda those are wonderful talents you have. I love to be creative too in my craft room daily if possible. I learned to crochet when I was around 8 or 9 years old from my Great Aunt. She was so patient with me. In two days she taught me one complicated stitch to do. I have now forgotten it but I know others that are easy for me to do without any deep thought.
Cross-stitch and embroidery are also very fun. Give them a try too.

Mimmzie Sorry to hear about your health issues. I pray you keep getting stronger day by day. You have a wide array of talents. Keep doing them as therapy.

Boy,I totally agree about the cost of hobby supplies. That's why I decided through this pandemic to only use stash items for everything possible. So far it's worked out just fine all year. Other than special gifts ordered online, the only thing I have had to order was elastic for mask making. The years I was working I bought my "toys" and my stash. Sometimes I would feel guilty because they were rarely used. But now those acquisitions are paying off. It's really a fun challenge to decide what I want to make and then work with what I already have to make it. And that includes, quilting, machine embroidery, mask making, crafting and paper arts mainly mail art.

Loretta I agree! Any happy mail gift is my favorite too. I make an entire binder and fill it with folders and in each pocket put a handmade treasure for them to enjoy! You can see the one I made for a friend on my YouTube channel. Link is in my bio below my name.

Jana I totally agree about the cost of hobbies getting very expensive. I am doing a series on my YouTube channel for using up our stash. Whether is is sew your stash or craft your stash with paper crafting i.e. junk journals, cards, scrapbooking etc... just use up what you have. I am even finding ways to repurpose junk mail envelopes and magazine pages into works of art in my journals.

Not sure if it is considered a hobby, but I love trying new things especially when it pushes me out of my comfort zone. But the craft I have been doing longest is sewing, about 50 years. Thirty years ago I started gardening with my girls when they were young and each year the garden gets bigger and better. The garden is now home to birds, bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and squirrels. Ten years ago I quilted my first two quilts, valentine quilts for my girls and I have been hooked ever since. I have also dabbled in embroidery, scrapbooking and cardmaking. I would love to learn how to knit and crochet, but these darn hobbies are getting too expensive, so instead I will push me into landscape and portrait quilting.

Good question and I am having fun reading everyone hobby interests.

Although I like to do all kinds of crafts I think the most satisfying one is making cards to send to people.

We sure do have a lot of talented farmgirls here, don't we!

I am busy making happy mail for friends to cheer them up and keep myself positive during this crazy pandemic.

I even do YouTube videos teaching what I know. You can find it in my signature section below.

Crocheting, digital photography, writing, walking/hiking, treasure-hunting for antiques, and taking care of the animals and garden are some regular hobbies. I tinker with others to learn something new.

Stephanie, I do like ATC's and postcards. I have only started making them in the MJF swaps. They are fun. I have purchased some in the past as well. I especially love Victorian postcards to collect.

Keep shining!

Card making for Military. This year again I was asked to make cards for a nursing home. I made 8.
Also love gardening, flowers and growing a few veggies. My husband and I live in SC, missing the mountains and our former huge garden when we lived in TN. Now we are in the very beginning stages of buying land upstate.

I've tried many many hobbies but the latest ( and greatest to me at least ) has been dollhouse building! My Gran was a huge miniaturists and when she passed in '99, we boxed up her entire collection. That then sat in storage until last month when I pulled it all out and began dollhouse building. I've taken over her final project and turning it into a merchantile and apartment ( she had planned saloon and lawwyers office ) It's been a way to connect and get to know her even after all these years.

It seems like my list of hobbies keep growing. Now that I am feeling better I am turning into some kind of a machine. LOL. I really getting into the gardening thing. I'm starting to compost and am loving my different mints that I grow. I have some old washtubs that I am thinking about growing some of the mint in. I want to expand on how much I am able to harvest. So I guess I would have to say that gardening is on the top of the list. In the fall and winter that will turn to crafting.

My favourite hobbies are reading, spinning, knitting and gardening. After that I also like cooking, making bread, walking, particularly along the waterfront, and spending time out in nature. It is interesting reading everyone's favourite hobbies. There are so many I would like to try, but need to stay focused right now.

Oh Margaret, I have never tried origami. I would love to try it and see what I can make. I bet my grandkids would love to have me make something. It looks so complicated, though. I tried knitting once and did a lousy job at it. LOL. I do love to crochet. Have a wonderful weekend

Hello, there! I enjoyed reading through all the posts and seeing the hobbies of others. My top three are origami, crocheting, and knitting. I also have a huge paper doll collection and, yes, I do spend some relaxing time just cutting them out. I also love scrap booking, journaling, and writing but I see these more as necessities of life rather than hobbies. You ladies all have a blessed weekend.

Hi Lori, I just started doing it, and actually love, not sure if it's the correct way to do it, but I take a pot of coffee, pour it into a cookie tray, take what ever papers I have on hand, dip them into the coffee in the cookie tray, front and back and then lay them in a second cookie sheet and bake them in the oven at 300 degree until they are dry, take them out and start over! They have turned out really well, I know some ladies say they don't like the process, but with a glass of wine - I find the process so relaxing and love love love admiring my stack when I'm done! Good luck with your coffee dying!! Hope you have fun with it!

Talking about coffee stained paper, April. Do you make your own paper? I read about it in one of Mary Janes' magazines and am going to try it. I bought a cheap blender at a resale shop to use just for that purpose. I can't wait to see what it is like when I finish with it. I need to go back to the resale shop to see if they have some old cookie sheets to dry the paper on.

I love making anything, just being creative is so therapeutic and healing. I love to make junk journals, cards, tags, memory boxes, cards, stationary and coffee stained papers. I love anything paper. The one thing I especially love is that I take my sons artwork and create greeting cards out of my favorite pieces of art - so special. I have also used pieces of my grandmothers art ( she loved to paint with both oils and water colors) and I have also made stationary sets as gifts for family members. They turn out so pretty and are so meaningful!

I also just started collecting items, old photos, and information for family history albums on both sides of our family and we have our DNA kits waiting for us to complete and send back in. I love learning about our generations past.

I also love gardening and working in our little yard. Getting my hands and feet dirty is such a wonderful and rewarding feeling. The benefit of watching your own little garden grow is Awe-mazing!

Thanks for starting this thread and allowing me to share!

Joan, I've only made a few. I don't know about the rest of you but I have about 5 things that I'm working on. I think I need to be an octopus. LOL. The card making is fun. It gives me a chance to put show some creativity.
