It seems like all my life I have been walking down the yellow brick road looking for something.Trying to fullfill an inner void. I have been on vision quests, done Reiki, new age stuff, looking and searching for that one thing to make me whole. I knew it wasn't a heart, or courage or even the quest for my home. I have a wonderful husband, kids, family life, but still something was missing. I have always loved plants, making stuff, but it wasn't until I saw MaryJanesFarm that I found what I was looking for.I had it all along. MaryJane put a name to what I wanted to do, and be. A FARMGIRL, even if just at heart. More vegetable growing, being green, trying new recipe's, making friends with like interest. Thank you MJ for expanding my horizons, and the opportunity to make new friends.

When I watch TV my cat, Twink, tries to lay on the remote and wreak havoc on the TV, now when I am on the computer, he jumps up on my lap, up on the keyboard then meows at me. Now he is jealous of you guys!
The forums are wonderfully addictive.

I just want to thank Mary Jane and all the Farmgirls on the forums who have teased me (or is it guiltied me)away from the sofa where I used to spend hours every day watching TV. You have inspired me to spend more time in my garden, on my sewing machine, sorting out my fabric stash or talking to my sisters online instead of being a couch potato. Once again, thank you.

Annie, you should be a writer. Everything you said is so true. Working with the earth and animals is so natural and healthy and healing. I am glad to meet another western US Farmgirl sister.

Hi Sisters, I too found a level of connection and comfort in finding MaryJanes Farmgirls. It reintroduced to me so many ways of living that I had seen in staying with my sweet grandma, yet were missing when I returned home to the city. The agrarian age was no doubt filled with hard work, trials and tribulations in the homesteading life, etc. but a sense of satisfaction in your efforts was there. I find a joy in the tasks of domestics on the home front where part of the day is endeavoring in how they did their work the "old-fashioned and sensible" way. It brings me peace, harmony and a connection to the earth and its bountiful gifts of nature which now I have been "trained" by the MaryJane Farm sisterhood to bring to usefullness for my enjoyment and survival without depending so much on "the truck will drive over the hill filled with goodies". I have always been self-reliant in nature and had an underlying unsettled feeling also until I learned there is still information on back to basics in all arenas to living. I have downsized and reprioritized, and am happy to get back to the soul of domesticated living within my abilities and circumstances. We have a place within the gifts of nature and using these create a connection and being a part of the earth we were born into. We are able to grab back a part of our self and soul that was being stripped away with nothing left to do because of the ease and accesss to resources. Lazy days are boring days unless you are truly in need of respite and healing. My joy factor has been up several notches since I pursue activities of the earth and self-sufficiency and reliance. Have a great time learning. In the end it saves money because you are only needing staples which in combination with your new found knowledge and your effort produce just about any thing one would really need. Best to you! Ooh Terri, I so admire people that can play an instrument. I have tried several times, and just can't seem to get past the basics. Singing is a whole other thing. I love to sing. Amen is right Diana.

Tiana, you are so right. Watching things grow is a miracle, making things with your hands is a gift to you and whoever you give it to. I love singing and playing guitar. What spirit lifters they are. Having friends like you is the icing on the cake.
