How ashamed should Memphis be when a garden, compost and bees are considered rubish, a nuisance and order it's removal. Apparently the Judge will not comment on this case as it is pending. I have included his contact information if you feel so moved to speak out about this case.
Judge Larry Potter SHELBY COUNTY Environmental Court Division XIV, General Sessions Court 201 Poplar Avenue, Suite L.L. 56 Memphis, TN 38103 Phone: (901) 545-3456 Fax: (901) 545-3611
God bless,

Posted - Oct 12 2011 : 4:31:38 PM We have a local code enforcement that gets on my case because I have Lilies of the Valley in my front yard, visible dirt in my front yard (blowing dust, etc) and call them weeds. I call them the weed police. Down the street there is a car in the front yard that hasn't been moved for years though I notice they have finally moved all the tumbleweeds from around the car and have them out in the street to blow away! |

Posted - Sep 29 2011 : 12:54:27 PM I would guess then that none of these schools have 4-H, FFA, or any ag classes, what a crying shame, there are so many kids/adults that do not know how to even grow any veg plants, let alone know where eggs and milk come from...people will be sorry when we all have to go back to self sustaining due to the economy, and all other world disasters...

Posted - Sep 29 2011 : 04:14:41 AM This is starting to be a bigger issue these days. . one complaint and it's considered a nuisance??? How ridiculous is that!! This is one of those situations where he should gather families in the area and work on changing the laws/rules of their town codes. After all, there are more serious crimes being committed, you don't see them busy enforcing those laws no matter how many complaints are being filed.
Just my opinion.

Posted - Sep 23 2011 : 06:49:22 AM I'll be happy to write to him! At our schools they now all have green houses and are growing all kinds of veggies to teach these kids how to garden so they can feed themselves! In fact, one of the organizations in our County had a Saturday information seminar to show individuals how to build a green house then gave us blueprints & an exact list of what you need to purchase to build various green houses, then took orders for the hard plastic so they could buy it in quantities and save us all money! So, for sure I am writing to this judge!
