Posted - Feb 02 2011 : 10:20:43 AM With the recent passing of my mother, I have been reflecting on some of her characteristics that I admire. One of them was her subtle way of parenting me when I didn't know she was doing it.
I have written a short story about her coffee habit and the affect it had on my eventual introduction to adulthood.
Please visit my blog and let me know what you think. I would love to have farmgirl feedback.

Posted - Feb 03 2011 : 08:13:31 AM Ahhh thanks girls. My sister read it and it made her think of mornings when our mother would help her make homemade paper dolls. She got busy and made up a new set for herself to play with.
I think it is very healthy to, on occasion, let yourself be a little girl again.

Posted - Feb 02 2011 : 6:21:30 PM That was incredibly sweet. Isn't it funny how one little thing, can bring us back, can make us so nostalgic. I am a avid coffee drinker, and I rise 3:30am when my DH is working. I too, sit with my legs crossed at the table, while my children sleep. I use it as the only *me* time I get. I either sit still, think, and pray; or I use it as my devotional time. Who do I model my behaviour after? My mother, who faithfully woke hours before me and my sister for her *me time* and a cup of coffee.
Your blog is beautifully done, and this newest post was really great to read.

Posted - Feb 02 2011 : 5:59:27 PM Very nice. Made me think of some special times with my own mother and how I need to start writing things so my children can see her through my eyes. They knew her well and loved her. You made me want to start writing now!
