I'm thinking of joining a MJF Henhouse. Which ones are active? What are your favorites? Thanks, Dianne

Lorraine...
The stars is just about number of posts made.. nothing to do with merit badges.
I have yet to turn in my merit badges stuff... so that would be zero. ;o)

you get 5 stars total from the amount of posting .. also I just noticed that the stars also changes colors. I don't know at all what that means :o)

It is fun though! I love being here on MJF!

Thanks for the info, Karrieann. How do you go from one "rank" to another? Does it have to do with merit badges? I'm sure I have a long way to go - but its lots of fun. And I don't think you blab a lot. :o)

... Yep.. it is fine to have virtual and real time chapters!
Hexagon indicates that gal is a member of the Sisterhood.
And the stars are just indicators for how many posts.... notice the title under your name, Farmgirl at Heart... that is like your rank... mine says True Blue Farmgirl... I blab a lot! heheheeee

;o)

Hi All,
I just made the request to Brian to join MJs Heirloom Mavens. Although, I have plans to start a chapter with some friends here. Does that make sense? Is it ok to belong to a virtual and an actual chapter? Also, I made an assumption that the hexagons under your names indicate your Farmgirls - but what are the stars for? Merit badges???

I'm having a great time even though I'm a newbie and still figuring things out.
Thanks

Alee,

Thanks, I can read the posts now. How do you join the henhouse?

Hi Judy!
No it's not because you aren't a member. It mostly because the henhouses were established more than 30 days ago. When you click on a henhouse, in the right hand corner underneath your member sign on and everything there is a drop down menu. Pull it down and select "Show All Topics". That should bring up more topics for you to see. :D

Alee,

Help! When I look in the bulletin board to find out what a group is about it doesn't display anything. I'm assuming because I'm not a member. Is there somewhere else that has a brief description of each group? Thanks!

Dianne- Each Henhouse is a virtual Chapter- so they are based around shared interests etc. If you look at each henhouse there is "Bulletin Board" Section that usually has a description of the Henhouse.

There is a henhouse called "The BookWorms" for those of us that love to read! "D

Thanks, Amy. I remember you saying you belonged to an Heirloom Henhouse, but I couldn't find the link. I'll check out the Mavens. I'm just wondering, how is a henhouse different from a topic on a forum? Dianne

Well Dianne - I am a little biased because I belong to it but I like the MJ's Mavens. We haven't been very active but I'm working on getting it going again. It's primarily about gardening with heirlooms but I would like to expand a little and maybe include heritage skills like preserving and root cellaring.
I'll just throw a plug in here for everyone - if you are interested in heirloom gardening, canning and preserving please join us!!
I was thinking the Hanging by a Thread henhouse looked like fun too - but I haven't signed up yet because (as you know) I have to finish some knitting projects before I buy any embroidery stuff.
