OK, I know that isnt the name in the song, and I think the locals pronouce it more line "deana" than "dina" but.... Our very own Design Diva is from Medina, Ohio.. so here are some pictures of her home town that I took... The town is as ecletic and artistic as is Carol.. I loved it there....

Sounds like there is a story here. Who is LaDonna? Is she your alter ego, Rene?

Oh! Believe me.. when LaDonna get's loose something "interresting" always happens! Lordy, I try not to let her out at all.. but of course, she is "free" more than I want to admit! Dealing with "rene" is hard enough, but there is no mercy for myself when LaDonna shows up... although, my boys seem to like LaDonna.. gesh!

I think it is funny that we are discussing the phonetics of the town's name. I talked to 6 different people there and got 4 different ways to say it.... cracks me up! The town is so cute, very eclectic, the downtown looks like "mayberry" but there is also some great artist flare that you see as you drive around the fringe... Very awesome.. Oh there were a bunch of "biker duded" hanging out in the park.. of course I was to chicken to photograph them... :)

I know, I had a bad dream the other night about being on a roller-coaster and I told whoever I was with that I would just close my eyes and not look. It must have been the photos that Lovin' Man showed me. Those coasters are like nothin' I've ever seen before!

I will definitely let you know if we are going to go. That would be fun! Ohio is so full of great stuff!

OH! MY! GOSH! I cannot believe that I didn't recognize the courthouse clock as soon as I saw it. WAY COOL!

Dawn, are you saying that the town is called Meh - dina? Like die - na. I hope that I can remember that. Once, not too long ago, my mom and I were shopping for linens and I said something about a duvet cover, only I pronounced it dove - ette. Yes, really, I did. I am ALWAYS learning. Ha! Mom had to correct me. I don't mind. That's what people who love you do.

I have a feeling that we will be making a trek up to Ohio this summer. Lovin' Man was telling me about all of y'alls wonderful roller coasters. He was even trying to figure out flight times. He just didn't come right out and say that we are going.

A little Medina tidbit. The square that you see in the movie Back to the Future was modeled on my (and Carol's) hometown. The courthouse clock was actually used for some of the stunts. I rememeber the streets being blocked off for the movie crews. Never saw anyone famous, but I was young and probably didn't care.

And yes, there are all sorts of things that happen at the Square. Free summer concerts, Art in the Park, weddings.... I have a pic of it on my blog around Christmas time. Beautiful.

Hey! that looks like HOME!

I love Medina... Rene' you are sneaky indeed. Did you go on Saturday? And its Meh-Dina. Not deena. Medeena is in Africa me thinks. Sigh.... it all reminds me of Mom. I'm only a 30 minute drive from there, but a little homesick after seeing those pics. Carol, when you come back "home" look me up. We'll go climb the fence to the city pool at night!!

Poor little duck. It just came outta nowhere!

Sue, Sammie sends a bark and a sniff. Stella rolled over for a belly rub....

I was there! I was there! With Dawn and the Mavens this past week-end. Very cutsy and small town; loved it! Visited the Root candle place, what a history! Did some "junkin" there and we all found some great deals! Beautiful place Carol; lucky you!

Thank you Rene! I'm so thrilled to know that you were in my hometown and took these photos for me. It's dear to my heart, but no so near anymore, and it makes me smile to know you were there!!

How about if you make it your full time job to travel around the country, staying with farmgirls and taking pictures of their town???
You can stay here if you come to Michigan

I just want to go on a road trip now, Rene'. Whenever I travel it seems like we're always in a hurry and never have time to stop. That is a dream of mine, though. To just take off and enjoy the scenery along the way.

I love all your photos. You must be having a blast. Can't wait to see more now.

What a cute little town! It reminds me of Stars Hollow from the Gilmore Girls. I wonder if they have a bunch of special events going on in the square and bands to play in that gazebo. I love places like that! Thank you for sharing the photos, Rene! You know that I adore seeing new places and people!
