Posted - Mar 12 2009 : 07:25:30 AM I would love to see an article in MJ's mag. about rural lodging get-aways.I know you've done glamping, but after living in a trailer for four years while building a house, they are not my first choice. My husband and I work so hard on our rural farm-ranch,we need to get away sometimes. We like to find places as rural as where we live or more so.Hopefully not too expensive.I really want to do to some of the tent house retreats, yet haven't gotten up to Idaho yet. We tried a dude ranch last summer "Highland Ranch " in Philo,Calif. That was pretty fun, although so close to home that every day I had to reconvince my husband not to go home. The horseback riding there was really fun.Yet still a little uppity. Not bad though,my husband a vietnam vet. is very shy. There is a tent cabin and lodging place I've been wanting to try,can also take your horses called Castanoa in Pescadero,Calif. They have nice duplexes w/fireplace but walk to Bathroom/w spa. My husband sent me away to Calistoga for a Christmas present.January and Feb. were great deals on lodging and spa's.Really recharging. Little cabins in Elk,Calif. right on a beautiful bay.Bridget Dolan's pub/Griffen house lodging. Not too expensive again very relaxing. We are building ourselves a camp for hopefully living outside all this summer.Maybe we could get a camping on rural ranches trade deal going?Maybe places w/ tent cabins, rural cabins or just camp sites. Posted - Aug 15 2009 : 11:43:19 PM WE just had so much fun going to Mary Janes B&B.Everything was better than can be imagined. But getting there and back took us to many campsites not quite as wonderful.I welcome anyone who wants to come stay at our farm on a trip thru the North Coast of Calif. We have camp places and an out house so far.Working on outdoor kitchen then maybe shower and bath.We have some power available although we are off the grid. But it's rural and quiet and lot's of stars.Let's start offering this to farmgirls traveling thru. Posted - Mar 16 2009 : 08:08:38 AM We just spent the weekend in Saratoga, Wyoming. There are a variety of hotels, rntal cottages, resorts, inns and B&B's. It is very rural and is a hidden treasure indeed. The North Platte river flows through town, which is hailed as one of the top trout fisheries in the world. We caught so many fish we got tired of fisihng!!! (Not likely to ever happen again) There is a natural hot springs which was wonderful. This is a tourist town without the tourist town attitude. I loved it.

Posted - Mar 15 2009 : 5:17:22 PM Boy, I just found a great place to book vacation property. Vacation Rentals By Owners..(VRBO) We are renting a house in Vegas for Clay's daughters Wedding. We will be staying there three nights and willhost a cocktail reception there much cheaper than renting a room and having it catered. it will be a small reception possible 25 guests. The house we want is a 4 bedroom house in a nice part of town minutes from the airport & strip. A bargain for us we think. And VRBO is a worldwide operation. Check out their site by typing Vacation Rentals By Owner in your yahoo or google search
