Hi there!

I have a quick tip that I just love to share. Whenever I slice apples, pears, bananas, or avocados, I keep them from browning by dunking them in some water with honey in it. Just stir a big dollop of honey into a small glass of water, soak the pieces in there for about a minute, and enjoy lovely delicious-looking fruit for hours, even days! (I'm starting to sound like a bad infomercial. )

Salt water or lemon juice used to be my go-to solution, but I'm pretty sure the honey works even better. For example, I sliced a bunch of apples for a road trip snack. Some were leftover, so I stashed them in the fridge. Now, this is pretty embarrassing but I forgot about them for a couple weeks, and they somehow escaped my weekly fridge sweep. When I found them, they were horrible and squishy... but still white.

Does anyone else use this method? Has anyone tried it on raw potatoes? I'm too chicken to attempt that.

Wow and thank you Becca Lou! I am going to try that next time I am cutting up apples, pears, bananas, avacodo or any other like fruits.

I'm going to try your tip out. I usually use the lemon juice but I would much rather use honey and water! Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the tip Tiny. I knew about lemon, but honey I had not heard of. I had brown apple slices just the other day.So I will try this.
