I have these fruit flies in my house. Here's the dilemma. I have NO rotting fruit or food in my house!!! I have cleaned my kitchen counters and my sink, but they are still here!
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get rid of them?

Posted - Sep 02 2014 : 05:41:01 AM I just made a fruit fly trap last night! They are so bad here. I use a shallow bowl with a little mixture of red wine and balsamic vinegar. Put a piece of plastic wrap tight around the top and poke holes in it with a fork. They can get in, but not out. This morning I had maybe 15 in there, and it'll get more as the day goes on.

Posted - Sep 02 2014 : 05:26:09 AM The easiest way to get rid of them is to make these effective traps. Take a jelly jar, add a drop or two of dish detergent, then add about 1/2 inch of apple cider, swirl the mixture together gently. Next, make a little funnel of paper so that the flies enter the jar through a small hole, but have a harder time getting back out. The fliers are attracted to the cider but when they get on it, the dish detergent makes them unable to get out and they drown. This little trick works very well and I keep a trap in my kitchen all summer. Just change out the solution every few days.

Posted - Sep 01 2014 : 05:03:05 AM Fruit flies around here seem to come in waves. I see them for a while than they are gone until they are back. If they are outside they get in every time the door is opened.
If they are really bad I leave a small glass of vinegar or coke on the counter. They fly in for a drink and can't get out. Dollar Tree has really sticky fly paper.
