Posted - Jul 23 2011 : 06:16:11 AM Use fresh coffee grounds around your house. The ants bodies cannot process caffeine. They will die |

Posted - Jul 22 2011 : 11:26:35 AM I use just plain borax at all entry points and, so far, knock on wood, it's working. My neighbor uses baby powder instead. Good luck, Janiece!

Posted - Jul 22 2011 : 09:49:17 AM I do not like to use poisons around the house. Too many pets. We have any areas around the foundation of the house with ants so I pour boiling water over nests in areas away from plants. It seems to reduce the problem and nontoxic. I also noticed that when I pour the boiling water over weeds near ant nests it take care of them too.

Posted - Jul 19 2011 : 2:04:03 PM I had the same problem this weekend. Mixed 1/2 c peanut butter and 1 tbsp borax and also mixed 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar and 1 tbsp borax and put on separate pieces of cardboard on the floor. I had read that depending on what kind of ant they are they'll be attracted either to sugar or protein. Mine were protein eaters. They'll take it back to their home and die from the borax. After giving them time to eat some of the borax and take some home to their friends/family, I sprinkled the area with diatomaceous earth, which cuts their bodies and kills them. It worked great. No more ants. My husband had called our regular exterminator and he came out today. He said that the ants are coming in to try to find water because we're in such a drought. He also said that many times, the home remedies really do work. |
