Posted - Aug 03 2006 : 06:25:45 AM My hubby and I are investigating a grey water system and was wondering if either of these soaps are okay to use in this type of system?
Also, does anyone have a laundry soap they'd recommend for this?

Posted - Jul 30 2006 : 07:08:11 AM Carla, I think the difference is that SalSuds is a mild detergent as opposed to the actual soap that is used in the peppermint soap (which, by the way, I have been using in the bath since it's been so hot! It's a lifesaver!!!) I tend to switch off with them - but I really do like the SalSuds for laundry and dishes - it seems to rinse more cleanly, but then again, i think a vinegar rinse might take care of any soap residue...

Posted - Jul 30 2006 : 04:53:30 AM Ooops. I have used Dr. Bronners Peppermint soap for all my household cleaning, at least 30 years. Recently I got the Sal Suds, just doesn't seem to clean as well and the odor to me is a bit offensive, chemical-ish. Doesn't seem "crisp and clean". Any thoughts? |

Posted - Jun 11 2006 : 8:53:34 PM Holy Toledo! Sorry I missed this one - better late answer than none, I guess... I really dilute the SalSuds - maybe 1/4 C. per gallon? - it ends up being a long squirt to a bucket of hot water. I really like them - even for laundry, too.
Again - sorry for the missed question!

Do you dilute the salsuds for dishes or use full strength? I used too much to wash the floors last week and it was a soapy mess.

Posted - Apr 27 2006 : 1:10:32 PM Hello, Kate! You may want to check through some threads on the "Cleaning Up" forum - I noticed that there has been some great information posted in the past that might help out in addition to the newer info posted over the past day or so...
Also - I don't have a "recipe" for dish soap, but I do use Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds for just about everything around, and they do a pretty darn good job on dishes. They ARE a detergent, not a soap, but they are a very low-impact one.
