Somehow slugs are getting into our kitchen, we took out our dishwasher and we think they could be coming in through the wall behind it, but were not sure. Is there like a repellant for slugs?

I have always used salt to get rid of them. That has always worked for me.

In my house we do the same thing that Alee does. The slugs are drawn to the beer. Try it...it does work.

I have heard that slugs cannot touch copper, you might try copper flashing or just a line of pennies at the problem area. I have heard that if they touch copper they will spark or something like that.

Beer in a pie pan in the garden works great! I've never had them inside. Annette, I wondered if when someone mentioned using it inside your pets would get it. I didn't know they would come inside! What about putting salt around the rim of the room for a day or so??

We have slugs on the fence. Everytime I see it I put it in a bottle and trash it.

My kitchen and living room are in a line, sharing the same outside wall. We get huge slugs, many slugs every night. I used to use the beer bait, works like a charm in the gardens, but the dog run is on the wall that seems to be their entry way. If I put a pie plate of beer in the dog run every night, my pointer would be in danger of becoming an alcoholic! LOL.
Salt helped tremendously under the sink and behind the dishwasher, but I can't decide if I really want to lay a line of salt on my carpet in the living room? One carpet installer said sand was really bad for your carpet, sinking to the bottom, and cutting at the base of the fibers, and breaking it down quickly. Salt and sand are a similar texture, so I'm worried about damage. So, at this point, I'm just Vacuuming up disgusting "snail trails" every morning. I've never had this problem before, and was surprised to see others having the same issue. Glad I'm not alone.
I posted a long time ago about my biggest bug phobia, its slugs and snails!! What an infestation for me to have! Yuck!! Well, at least the salt worked in the kitchen!!
Best of luck, I hope we can all get rid of our unwanted slimy guests!

The tears I shed then, watered the flowers I harvest now.

Alee, it's scary how much we think alike! People look at me like my hair is on fire when I tell them about beer bait! Daddy used that all the time when I was a kid... bless their hearts, at least they go out smiling!

We have a slug problem in our living room. Usually they come in because of a food source. We keep our dog food and chicken feed on the carport which borders the wall to our living room. I have put salt out but have only caught one. We never see them but when we wake in the morning there are shiny slug trails all over the living room carpet!

Sometimes when we have slugs I use table salt.

You could always pour a line of salt where you think they are coming through- that kills them. Or you can put out a pie plate of beer at night away from the house and that draws the slugs to it and they crawl in and drown.

The only thing I know if is slug killer, not a repellent. We use Escar-go because it's safe, non-chemical.
