Posted - Jul 20 2009 : 08:04:05 AM I will be trying this and let you know how it works, the flies and mosquitos in Fl are terrible. I was using lime juice for the mosquitos but we have so much rain this time of year you have to keep applying it all the time. lol

Posted - Jul 18 2009 : 12:09:31 PM Alee...If I spray it in the air it lasts about 2 to 4 hours and if I apply it topically to my skin, it will last longer. Maybe 4 to 5 hours. Teatree Oil is very strong, that is why it has to be diluted with a carrier oil. Be sure to get a good grade of Teatree oil, you could usually find it at a good organic health food store.

Posted - Jul 18 2009 : 06:05:18 AM I have been using this concoction for years and it works great and is safe around young children and pets. I have 2 greyhounds and 3 cats and 1 grandson! Mix together 5 or 6 drops of Teatree oil and fill with Witch Hazel in a small spray bottle. Spray the area well. It keeps away mosquitoes, flies, gnats, even ticks. I live on the edge of a wooded area and I know this works.

Posted - Jun 30 2009 : 08:18:51 AM O.K. I do have something that has worked really well for me in the past. I've even used it for fruit trees instead of spraying for beetles. Works great for flies.
Use a 2 liter soda bottle and add
1 bannana peel 1/2 cup sugar (more can be added if needed) 1/2 cup cider vinegar
After the bannana peel, sugar and cider have been put in the bottle, fill the bottle to 3/4 capacity with water. The sugar and the bannana peel attract flies to come in, the vinegar kills them and the small "neck" of the 2 liter bottle keeps the flies from escaping before they meet their demise.
