About 2 weeks ago, I awoke one morning with a throbbing headache and a knot the size of a golf ball on my forehead. The pain was unbelievable. My husband inspected it but could not find any bite marks (we thought maybe something had bitten me in my sleep). I don't easily go to the doctor so I decided to wait it out. It only got bigger and more painful. No redness, no warmth, just swelling and pain. I tried warm compresses, tea tree ointment, ice packs and even a heating pad. I was miserable. I had read in a farm mag not too long ago about using apple cider vinegar for various ailments. I was to the point of going to the ER, which would have been only my 2nd ER visit in my entire 47 years of life. The swelling had gotten so bad it was putting pressure on my temple and making me nauseated. I decided to give one more home remedy a try and yesterday during my shower I pour a cup of the vinegar on my hair. By noon I could tell a considerable amount of the swelling was gone. Last night I put some of the vinegar on a gauze and placed it over the knot. Morning came and the knot was almost gone and no pain. This morning I rinsed my hair with it again. The knot and pain are now completely gone. The only bad part about the whole process is I've been asked at least 50 times if I had been eating pickles.

Begin each morning with a song in your heart.

I use vinegar as a hair rinse. I also make a lot of my homemade cleaning products with it. For one thing, it is cheaper than buying products from the store. Another thing, it isn't toxic. I use it in the laundry too. I will buy 2 one gallon jugs of it at a time. I use the jugs to start my miracle gro in as well as cut them down to make funnels. Some of them will get some sand in them and submerged in the pond for the baby fish to hide in. Others get used to make pots to start plants in. So many uses for the jugs as well as the vinegar

I have not tried to drink it yet, but I will for sure now. I do use it for our chickens in their water. Have not had a worm problem ever.

I had this small rash on my scalp for over a year. It was in tiny little spots in 3 places. I had tried about 30 different things to get it to clear up (including steroids from the Dermatologist) and it wouldn't - Dermatologist said it was an over production of oil in those small areas. Finally, I decided to use an ACV rinse (with the mother) for a week after shampooing, before conditioning (I have pathetically thick hair). It was gone in one week, and have never came back. After shampooing, I simple poured about 1/2 cup on my scalp and let it sit for about 2 mins - rinse and condition. Seriously, I wanted to kick myself in the rear for not trying it sooner.

This is awesome. There are a ton of things I want to try and use the apple cider vinegar on. With my boys being outside more they do tend to get bug bites. I am going to try apple cider vinegar as a remedy to help with swelling and itching.

I have another question... Should ACV be stored in the refrigerator or in the kitchen cabinet?

Didn't know about swishing with water afterwards. thanks for the tip.

@ ranchmama that is awesome! I would never had thought to use avc on warts!! I will definately be passing the tip along. I knew avc had special properties because I make my own dog shampoo with it. Their skin issues vanish away--with the help of fresh aloe. But I never realized it helped so many other issues as well! Too cool!

ACV with the honey added in is a good energy booster too! Who among us could use some energy. I drink it during my meals and sometimes after as an appetite suppressant and it works!!

I agree with the water swishing. It's good to follow with a glass of water anyway. Helps to flush the bad stuff out of your body that the ACV "loosens" up in your digestive system.

Great idea about the straw, but if you are still worried about your teeth, just follow the ACV with a swish of water!

If you are going to use ACV, lemon juice, or lime juice, use a straw. This way it will go to the back of your throat therefore missing the teeth. Thats how I drink it, have been for years. My grandmother had us drink it when were kids. That was forty years ago, I grew up in PA and never had a cold either.

It's Bragg ACV with the mother. You can find it in most health food stores and probably in the natural food aisle of larger supermarkets.

Well it certainly is working for my heartburn. Bit of work to get it down but since it works OK maybe a bit more honey.

You ladies are awesome! Just bought some of the miracle ACV for my family. Can't wait! Hope it will help our allergies. So I can put a little in my dog's water too? Maybe not everyday (because of the teeth)? Going to get some raw honey too. : )

I was just looking up a natural remedy for skin tags (little brownish bumps that form usually on sun-exposed places, like the neck), and sure enough, what did it say? Soak a cotton ball in ACV and apply it to the skin tags daily, and this supposedly makes them go away. I'll keep you posted!
