I was at farm fair this weekend and picked up 3lbs. of the mix. In the last two days I have had strawberry scones, pancakes and biscuits. It tastes wonderful!! The scones are my favorite so far. I think I patted my biscuits down to thin before I cut them so they weren't very thick, but tasted very yummy. I think tomorrow I'll try cookies, and then after that........

Love and Blessings,

Missy

I just bought the whole wheat (among a few other items), but I haven't received it yet in the post.

I'm not so much thinking of baked goods--we really don't eat too very much of that at home, aside from the mexican casserole thingee that I've already copied down, what else do you girls make that's savory?

I LOVE the peanut butter cookies - I'll bet you all enjoyed them! And Fran - I have to say, I've not been disappointed with anything of MJ's that I have tried, but the Budget Mixes are some of my favorites!!!

XOXO, Libbie

i recently started using the budget mix and i am sold on it now! at first i worried it might be too pricey, just cause it is a quality item and around here organic products are a little bit more, in general. but it was a gift for participating in the pincushion contest.
it really seems to go far, and everyone here loves it, and i feel great nowing it doesnt have any benzohyponitromsg type stuff that could make ya glow in the dark, or worse!
now, i'm ready to try other mj products.

love

I should have seen that one coming...

I'll have to figure out how to post pictures.

Today I'm in the middle of making peanut butter cookies with the mix, using MaryJane's recipe from the magazine. So yummy!

Hi,

Thanks for the quick replies, everyone! I did not get them in time for supper, so I had to go ahead and guess. I just multiplied the 9" amounts by 1.5 and it turned out great! My family was very impressed with it, and they even took a picture of me holding my first BakeOver (yes, I was wearing an apron, too!) before we devoured it!

Looks like I'll be ordering more in the future...

Hi Lori!
Sorry this is late in coming to you and thank you Alee for your suggestion BUT for an 11 inch crust, you merely double it. I know that doesn't seem right but since it's the outer two inches of the pan, you need an equal amount to what's in the center. It's one of those math things! Good luck. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask and THANK YOU for buying our skillet!!!! MaryJane

Placed an order through Costco.com for a budget mix sampler!!!! Hope to get it in the stores!!!

Lori-

I would suggest just adding in an extra 3/4 cup of budget mix and 1/3 cup water. That should make enough dough to cover your top.

Hugs!

I'm not sure about this one, Lori - let me check in with the gals in at the farm! AND... that banana bread sounds great! I'll have to try making that substitution with come of my recipes. Thanks for the tip!

Hi,

Received my first order of Budget Mix yesterday, and I made my favourite banana bread with it, substituting the budget mix for the flour amount, and omitting the salt, baking powder and baking soda from the recipe since I knew it was in the mix. It turned out great, and this bread seems more filling to us than it usually does (maybe just our imagination!)

I have a question: I want to make a BakeOver tonight, and I can only seem to find the amount of mix to measure for a small 9" crust. I just bought the 11" pan, and would like to know how much Budget Mix to use for a larger crust.

Any suggestions? Thanks,

Lori

The Budget Mix ROCKS!! I have made the tortillas & the pound cake, my 'oh my not only did they both make up pretty quick & easy but they were scrumptious!! I may never make flour tortillas again!

I cant wait to try out some of bakeovers, which my girlfriend already has she said there wasnt a morsel left when her family was done!!

I love the budget mix and the buttermilk biscuit mix too. I make drop biscuits a lot. I mix the dough and then spoon/drop the biscuits onto a pampered chef stoneware tray. They make great biscuits in so little time. YUMMY!

I too love the budget mix!! The whole wheat is WONDERFUL! I made the golden raisin, walnut, asiago cheese and rosemary panbread - OH MY!!!! It was truly one of the most remarkable things I've ever made! I also gave a copy of the magazie and some mix as a b-day present to a fellow farmgirl - she absolutely loved it!

Made the best Mexican Fiesta casserole from the mix the other night. It was on the back of a baking mix box and I just substituted with the budget mix. Brown one lb hamburger and add taco seasoning, cook according to pkg directions. Set aside. Mix a 16 oz can refried beans, 1 cup budget mix, 4 oz can chopped green chiles, 1/4 cup water. Spread this mixture in the bottom of a 2 qt casserole dish. Top with the seasoned hamburger. Top with 1 cup chunky salsa and then finish off with 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese. Bake at 375 for 25 minutes. Quick, easy, and yummy. This would be great served with tortilla chips as a party dip too.

I love the budget mix. I made Sloppy Joes the other night and realized I forgot buns. So I mixed up a bakeover crust from the mix, baked it and ate and ate and ate. My husband really like it. He took the leftovers for lunch. I have to try the scones.

I made scones today from the budget mix -- they were so yummy! Didn't get them done for breakfast but had them with my coffee this afternoon.

Just borrowed the magazine from Missy today so I can use the recipes and my budget mix. We're having strawberry scones for breakfast in the AM. Can't wait!

I love it! My hubby and I wanted pizza a couple of weeks ago, but instead of ordering in, like we normally do (shamefully) we made a FRESH homemade pizza with budget mix crust. it's SOOO easy! It really makes me want to cook at home more!
