Does anyone know where online to purchase a sun hat similar to what Mary Jane wears? I believe it's called the French Breton style.

The style has a great brim. Able to see --- but keeping the sun out.

Farm Girl Sisters --- No luck but I did try.

I went to the Natick Collection Mall (have mercy) during lunch hour as it's near the office, to try to find as many Mary Jane style summer hats as possible for those who are looking.

Macy's, Nordstroms, Lord & Taylor --- all the major anchor stores.

I usually sew, shop at consignment shops, or wear the standard jeans. This was the first trip inside a mall since 2001. But the experience only reinforced why I shop at Wal-Mart, Target and second hand shops. Caught the price on a pair of shoes on the way out the door to the parking garage --- the shoes cost as much as my first car (a used but beloved 1961 Chevy Impala).

Will keep an eye out for the hats --- as you never know, a few could turn up almost anywhere.

As Aunt Clemy said "Lord willing and the creek don't rise".

I love MJs hat too and hats in general. I find good hats, believe it or not at TJ Maxx. I found a Liz Claiborne one similar to MJs at Nordstroms for $5.00 at an end of season sale (right about now, actually). I also found anothr one with little flowers subtley embroidered in straw on it at a tag sale.

Happy Hat Hunting

Dearest hat lovers!

We used to sell the style I'm wearing in my photos, custom-made here at the farm! But they took so much time, we couldn't charge enough to pay wages.

But it seems like every spring I see something almost identical at Macy's under the Liz Claiborne label???

Tip: When I find a hat that I love but it has a ribbon band on the inside (or a vintage leather band), I always replace it with a 1 1/2" hat band that is elastic. (I purchased my roll of hat band elastic on the web somewhere in a big fat lifetime roll.) I prefer the elastic over the ribbon because my hat will stay on when even the most ferocious winds are blowing, although soft enough not to "feel" like I have a hat on and it never leaves a ring across my forehead.

Sorry I can't be of more help. Do check out a Macy's early next spring and google hat bands.

I have looked everywhere for one. I have a problem with hats being too big for my head but I have yet to find one with a brim like hers. Okay MJ. Where'd you get it? Susan
