Living in a rural area, we get stray dogs every now and then. It's hard because I've got a soft heart. Yesterday 2 pit mix boys followed us home and one is Rose's friend. I know he wants to stay but we can't afford another mouth. I haven't seen the second one today and wonder where he is.
I've sent a message to our animal shelter. They are crowded but hopefully can take this friendly guy in.

The fella was picked up by our Animal Shelter folks, they will see he gets vet care and food. Rose misses him and is not her buoyant self.
I'll be donating dogfood to our shelter.

Oh Connie Sue, what a wonderful job to have at St. Jude’s and be able to interact at times with the children and their parents. I am sure Lily Jun loves it! Thank you for sharing.

Oh Debbie, that just touched my heart!
Lily June's dad works at St.Jude. in the office part. He is a software computer something! He takes lily June to the Christmas parties and special events at St.Jude since she was 2.They would have Characters like from Disney movies at the parties.
She got to be her daddy's date to a special Ball one time.

Oh yes, we are donating to St. Jude too. I just love what they do for the children. When my BIL died in 2023 he donated his skin to St. Jude for the children who needed it. That was such a heartwarming gift. Still makes me tear up.

Krista and Debbie, I feel the same way as y'all. If I won the lottery, I would split the vast majority of the money between St. Jude and Build an animal rescue like Debbie said.

Thank you Connie Sue for all you do for the animals. I am with Krista, I love all animals, dogs, cats and more. If I should ever win the lottery I would open a sanctuary for all animals no matter what!

Aww this breaks my heart. I wish I had enough room and money to take in all the homeless pets. It's not fair how they just get dumped on the side of the road.

Connie, you are amazing for helping take care of so many animals! I hope to be able to do the same some day!

Seems like its the same kinda situation all over the country. We have a lot of cat and dog rescue shelters, that run on donations and fund raisers. We have supported The House of Mews for over 30 years. They house anywhere from 40 to 50 cats at a time. The oner has taken home dozens over the years. She has about 20 in her home. They have a huge sunroom, playroom of their own. They are very spoiled. She is a well off lady. Does good with her wealth .They have regular fosters. People dump dogs mostly in our area.Over the years all of us neighbors adopted them. They were all pure breed, cocker Spaniel, Scotty, lab,Many cases people get puppies and kittens for Christmas, the novelty wears off, they didn't want the responsibility of a pet. So sad. County run shelters are full.
One rescue group just went to the city animal shelter took about 15 dogs that were to be euthanized the next day.
We try to help as much as we can in all ways we can, being older now with health issues we can do what we used to years ago. At one time we had 16 cats. All spayed and neutered. We have 3 acres of woods . Some liked outside, some like inside. A few lived to be 22 years old.
I love all animals.

Aww, I understand Vanessa. The stray situation is terrible here too and our shelters are all full. But we have such a kind and loving community that when the shelters are full they foster them until the shelter can take them or the owners are found. Truth be told a lot of the FurBabies are let loose by our homeless population. So sad really.
