Posted - Apr 07 2007 : 07:48:54 AM I got some baby chicks to give to my grandchildren for Easter. Right now, they are being kept warm and cozy in my bathroom. I had forgotten how sweet the chirping sound of baby chicks can be. One of my favorite times as a kid was when my grandmother got her shipment of baby chicks and all those wonderful cuddly little creatures were in her hen house waiting for hugs and to be rubbed against my cheek. Those were good days. Kathy

Posted - Apr 09 2007 : 12:42:54 PM LOL that's clever..what will they think of next? but..there still isn't anything like the real thing..and children being able to see and feel something living, and to learn the real responsibilty involved. Sure the thing acts and "looks" real...to a degree, but there's still some missing components..there's nothing like something living and breathing to love.

Posted - Apr 07 2007 : 8:47:35 PM I've got my baby ducks here in the house by my french doors in the living room..haha. 2 little cages for them that I set newspapers under. Since my "babies" are still tiny..I don't trust putting them outside yet. When they get a little bigger I will make them a portable cage for outdoors...something that a coon or possum or cat cannot get into, but that is easily moved around the yard by me.
I remember the baby chicks in the bathroom too. I can't remember what we did the one year that we had 200 at one time though..ha. But I do remember a big washtub with newspapers and towels in the bottom for the baby chicks. So much fun.

Posted - Apr 07 2007 : 09:46:20 AM I glad I'm not the only one that puts chicks in the bathroom. When my hen hatched out 8 eggs and they got too big for the dog kennel I put them in the bathtub with newspapers I changed out twice a day. My DH thought I was crazy to have them in the house. I loved it. I wish I could get more chicks this year.
