It was rat poison in the pet food.

Winona, I think Purina just got pulled. At least that's what a friend told me yesterday. She feeds Purina and called the company last week, spoke to a woman who said none of their food was done out of house. Turns out Purina is owned by Friskies and indeed some of it is done by Menu Foods!

Oh...and guess who owns them both? Nestle! Watch your candy bars...

They do not know how far back this problem goes - my cat dies in november and my vet thinks it was from the food

My brothers dog just passed away from kidney falure due to dog food...Iams dog food I believe. He changed dog food after he heard about the recall but the vet said that it was to late. His dog was 14 years old....He is so heartbroken.

I feed Purina One dog food and so far, I don't think it's been contaminated. However, I bought this sack about 2-3 weeks ago and I'm feeding 2 Mini-doxies and so any sack lasts me forever. I'm not quite sure when this poisoning came to light...a couple of weeks ago??

I saw this on the news tonight as well.
It's so scary. Has anyone found anything about what the SAFEST food to feed your pet is?
