Posted - Apr 12 2021 : 6:14:55 PM We have a stray cat around our house. We have been feeding him/her and would like to have him as a permanent garage cat to keep mice down. Does anyone have hints on how to gain his trust so we can get him to the vet?

He seems to be comfortable on the porch, and isn't hunting the birds. Some sites say to keep them in a kennel for a month to get used to the place and getting "3 hots and a cot."

Posted - Apr 15 2021 : 03:02:24 AM If your feeding the cat, he may stick around. We had one stray tom cat end up staying with us. But for quite a few years he would come and go. You could pet him though. I have another one now, that is wild. He comes and stays for a while and then heads out, and comes back. Sometimes I can see him, talk to him and he will sit there, but most of the time he runs and hides. I don't know if you can use a live trap and catch a cat? I know you would not have a happy cat though. Just feeding him might be enough to make him hang around. If he was a tame cat, time might be your answer. Good luck.

Posted - Apr 14 2021 : 1:43:12 PM Vanessa, I don’t have any hints for you, but I wanted to say good luck. I hope it works out and he becomes a great cat for you guys. Our neighbors have a couple and they really do help out.
