Posted - Feb 26 2007 : 05:25:06 AM After so much sadness I wanted to do something I LOVE and stick w/ it no matter how expensive it gets. I start lessons again this wk. Im riding a paint. This instructor is great & he has team penning, roping & reining on his ranch. SO, I'll be learning it all eventually but he wants me to start from the beginning, havent rode in awhile. Wants to sharpen skills before I go to reining. I was back & forth about english or western but my heart lies with western. So I am very exceited. I financially will have a struggle but I'll start slow & work up but at least I'll be riding!

Posted - Feb 26 2007 : 11:29:41 AM Thanks, Im really glad also. I can't explain it really but being around horses makes me feel grounded but also less internal. It may sound silly but I like the feeling alot.

Posted - Feb 26 2007 : 11:08:23 AM Michele, I'm so glad to hear you're back into lessons! Reining is a kick; it takes a real athlete to do that job. You're going to have a lot of fun!
And *hands on hips* Tracey, why are you mucking but not riding??? |

Posted - Feb 26 2007 : 09:00:27 AM Michele, how exciting! I'm so happy for you...and wishing I were in your boots right now. Oh...to feel that familiar ache when one first climbs back into the saddle...
I'm mucking everyday without the benefit of riding, lol!

Posted - Feb 26 2007 : 07:28:10 AM That's how we rode for years, sweat equity went a very long way when I was a kid. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but to horse crazy girls, it was a solution to the problem. Good for you Michele that you are doing something you love!

Posted - Feb 26 2007 : 07:00:13 AM My daughter has bartered for riding lessons for my grandaughter. Once a week they muck out the stalls at the stable in exchange for her once a week lesson. You might inquire.
p.s. Some would not, but my daughter loves this work. Brings her back to her roots and centers her.
