Posted - Feb 16 2007 : 08:54:38 AM I thought I would share as there is alot of talk about eggs lately. Someone told me that in order to perk up the egg laying for chickens, put some plastic eggs or even small balls in their nesting boxes. Well, I did have some small plastic eggs that I use for Easter Baskets and I thought it might be worth a try. I put a couple in just a couple of boxes this morning, and you will not beleive this, but I have just went out for the second egg collection (REALLY COLD here) and I already have 4 eggs! I have been collecting 3 or 4 in a 24 hour period for the last few weeks. It's working. The girls do not want to fall behind any of the others, and as soon as they noticed an egg in the box, they had to jump up and lay one too The best part of this, was it did NOT cost me a thing, and I am getting more eggs...YUMMY! BTW, I feed my girls, bread and corn, and during the summer, they have free reign of the yard.

Posted - Feb 16 2007 : 10:53:17 AM Well, now it is just the girls. The horses, llamas and sheep are gone to barn at FIL for the winter, and will be back in the spring. Leroy is gone, and max is with an uncle who begged for him. We actually have one named George now. As far as taking care...not that long during winter months. I still go out with bread or treats and ask if anyone wants a treat and they will all come running from wherever they are in the barn. My girls are spoiled and love the attention. I am hoping to get some new pictures before long to show all of you, as I truly enjoy seeing everyone else.
