Posted - Feb 02 2007 : 5:04:06 PM Meet Tait, the girl that drives me crazy with her constant chewing and teething. She's cost me hundreds in earphones and computer cables, and even chewed up the memory card to my camera that I forgot and left sitting on the desk over night. The children insist they hate her, City Boy nearly divorced me over her...but then she looks at us with those big, brown eyes and we all say "Awwwwwww, good dog, Tait!" She has us so wrapped around her little paw!

Posted - Feb 05 2007 : 11:34:37 AM Tait is GORGEOUS!!! I had a dog who looked very similar to her named Biggi. She was tri-colored. We think she was part spaniel but also some border collie or Aussie. She had "Biggi eyebrows" and had the most gorgeous coat. She also had freckles on her legs and feathers, too. She was probably the most beautiful dog of mine, markings-wise.
Now I have a border collie/Aussie who is tall and skinny, with LONG legs. She has merle and black and brown -- her chest has markings like a skunk! She's very shiny, too. And a major goof! (But SMART at the same time.) Her name is "Kami", named after Kamiak Butte north of Pullman, WA.

Posted - Feb 05 2007 : 06:00:39 AM She is a beauty, Tracey. Her coat is so shiny and soft looking. I agree with Kathy about Nylabones. My dogs love them and they last a looonng time. I also use those heavy duty Kong toys(you can stuff treats inside, too) that my pit bulls like to chew on.

Posted - Feb 04 2007 : 9:32:51 PM Beautiful dog - stunning coat! Try Nylabones, they are indestructible and can't hurt them at all - I stay away from rawhides and pigs ears and things like that they can choke on.

Posted - Feb 04 2007 : 3:58:26 PM Erin, she's an aussie. It's hard to tell the difference, isn't it? I just read that BC's are only black and white, and aussies will have tan. Dunno...but that's what the aussie book said.
Patricia, it's probably the oils in the soap. My sister's dog got out of her van one day at their 4-H meeting. The joke was that he must have rabies because he was foaming at the mouth; my sister had forgotten to take the soap I'd given her out of the car

Posted - Feb 03 2007 : 03:39:59 AM I'm right there w/ ya! All the teething and nibbling is driving us all crazy. So far we haven't lost anything substantial to the chewing. We have toys everywhere to create diversions and watch her like a hawk. That stuff called Bitter Apple works great! Hubby is so afraid we are going to have an aggressive dog on our hands later on. I keep trying to tell him it's just puppy teeth and to have a little patience.
We start Puppy K in 2 days!
Our pup however has an afinity for chicken and goose poop!!!!
Your sweet pup looks like a Border Collie.....they need lots to do. We have a Belgian pup. Both these breeds are very high evergy. |

Posted - Feb 03 2007 : 03:34:27 AM She's beautiful. I'm partial to tri colored dogs of any breed.
I started crate training when Maggie had her first litter and carried it over to our rescued deaf, epileptic border collie. It saved us a lot of headache and made him feel secure.
