Posted - Jan 25 2007 : 8:27:33 PM A friend of mine has this funky little mixed breed of chickens running about her farm. It's been a closed flock for a few years now; she began with an aracauna roo, a handful of bantams and a few pheonix. The blue/black hens tend to lay blue eggs, and although they're rather small (let's face it, bantams and phoenix aren't terribly large birds) it's rather fun to get blue eggs from blue chickens! Here's a pic of a couple of them (sorry for those who have dial up )

As you can see, I've got two different roo types; one is rather traditional looking and the other has the long phoenix tail feathers. Two of the hens are pretty dark, but then there's the one with the silver head that I think is really pretty. Can't wait to see what color her eggs are...hoping they're blue, too!
