Once upon a time back in November, our Large Black Boar and our Red Wattle Sow had a date night . Two weeks ago Bitsy gave birth to eleven babies. One unfortunately didn't make it but the remaining 10 are thriving and learning so fast! They are so much fun. Both the Large Blacks and the Red Wattles are Heritage breeds and are endangered. You can learn more here:

https://www.livestockconservancy.org/index.php/heritage/internal/heritage-swine

You can check out both breeds at the same website as well :)

They are so very cute. Congratulations! We had Hampshires when I was growing up on the farm. Nothing like cute little ones.

Heather, they are 2 weeks old as of Monday. They do mature fast. Right after born they are starting to wander around :) Most of the babies are black, there are a couple that are almost brown/black and some with wattles :) That is an older picture of Trudy but we are hoping that she is due in May. Their gestation period is 3 months 3 weeks and 3 days.

Thank you Michele!

Deb, come on down :)

AAAWWWWW! I want one!!!! How old are they in the picture? I know calves are up and at em in a few hours, but I don't know anything about piggies - except those little ones are SOOOOO CUTE! I bet Bitsy feels much better now. She was one round mama!!! Will the little ones all be black? Is Trudy expecting too?
Thanks for sharing!
