About 3 weeks ago our boy Ratchet ran out into the road and was killed. He had never done that before. It was instant for him and we are still in shock. He was such a wonderful boy and he and Cookie were the best pals. The poor girl witnessed everything and is still confused and lonely.

~Ratchet would make his rounds in the evening walking the perimeter of the yard. If he heard something he would guard us by laying in front of the door to the house.
~Sometimes when he was out at night, we would hear a rap on the front door and it would be him wanting to come in:)
~He was so much fun and loved to wrestle! If he did get a little aggressive, I would tell him "Gentle" and immediately he would stop and give me kisses:)
~He loved Bananas and Clementines and if we would start peeling, he would come running:)
~Once he left me the present of a dead prairie dog along my garden path:) (ewww)

He was such a lover and insisted on getting loves before eating his breakfast and dinner.

Even though we only had him for a little over a year, he was definitely part of our family and is very much missed.

I am sorry for your loss Judith! It is hard and almost unbelievable. It was just so quick. I think the best thing to do is remember the good times and how wonderful Sadie and Ratchet were.

Sharon, I am so sorry for your loss! My heart hurts for your family.

This similar thing happened 32 years ago when we moved here with our sweet Sadie. She was so good about staying up by the house and acreage. One day something on the road called to her. We still miss her and smile when we remember what a good friend she was.
Bless you.
