A couple of weeks ago I decided that I am going to write a book about Daisy & Oliver's lives. I never would have imagined the impact they would have on our family. Especially for myself, it's been extremely hard overcoming their loss. I can hardly believe that next month will be already a year since Daisy passed and more than 6 months for Oliver. I do believe that they chose us.

I think that by telling their story it may help me to finally let go of the grief and move on. (writing has always been very cathartic for me). Shelter dogs also sometimes get a bad rap for absolutely no reason at all and I want to bring attention to that subject as well. My best friend adopted a dog from a kill shelter up island, he is such a sweet dog and the shelter workers kept moving him to the back of the list in the hopes that someone would save his life & adopt him. My friend was still grieving over the loss of her beagle and didn't want another dog right away, but her better half surprised her one day with this wonderful dog, and she's been in love ever since. This dogs name is Darwin and he is a pit/lab mix and the biggest mush you could meet.

What I plan on doing is concluding the book with the addition of Chase & Ellie to our family, as they were adopted from the same shelter, and the point being with adding Chase & Ellie is that…the love continues with two more amazing shelter dogs. I don't know when the book will be out, as I have not begun it yet, but I wanted to share this decision. This is the cover I've been working on...

Connie,
That's a great idea! I do journaling and find that to be cathartic as well!
You go girl . . . it'll be awesome!

Awww... Connie! That is such a wonderful idea! I would definitely read that book, too!

Amy, I'm so sorry for your loss as well. SO hard.

As some of you know, we lost our beloved Pawlee a little over a year ago. I'm just now starting to come around to the idea of opening my heart, life and home to a new fur baby. Like you, Connie, I still miss my baby girl so much... She truly was the best, and my truest friend. She brought so much joy and laughter to our lives... and comfort. I just so miss the comfort of her presence by my side or under my feet. Her playmate the squirrel seemed at a loss when spring came around and she wasn't there to play chase with him. The birds in our yard seem to miss playing with her, too, and have taken to nesting over her in the cool shade of her favorite antique lilac. :) I think it's time for a new family member to join the circle, for sure. Maybe next spring... We'll see!

Big hugs to all of you who miss your beloved fur babies. And Connie, while writing your book, please know you're writing it for all of us - and we just love you for that! God bless you, sister!

Hugs -

Nini

Amy, I'm so sorry for your loss. Loosing a pet is so, so hard.

Amy I'm so sorry about your cat. My sister in law is about to put her cat down. It's so hard. When my book is ready I'll let you know. Hugs, Connie

Connie, I love this book idea! I just lost my Buffy, a rescue cat who bossed my around and kept me laughing for almost 15 years. I want to read your book!

Happy Day!
