BettyWhite has settled down a bit, but her eggs are still soft shelled! She is laying about every other day. I have started incorporating oyster shell in her "treat" (a little bit of almond butter, some crumbs and DE)and threw some down with her scratch.
Have any of you had this experience? If so, or if you have heard some solid advice, let me know!
Could this just be how she lays? If so, she will quickly become about as useful as a yacht here in Denver!

A High protein feed and egg shells will help, it wont be instant.

Still no luck, ladies! I"m getting worried it's permanent. She only lays about every other day, and not always in her nest-but in her run,so if she nudges them a little bit, they are scrambled! I have a new nesting box on it's way for her, so maybe she will be more comfy and want to lay there. I've been given her some oyster shell mashed in with some almond butter and DE to be sure she eats it all-she loves it! She's starting to trust my daughter and I more and more and will now eat from hand!

I have always given the hens their washed crushed egg shells to them in the scraps. I have heard this helps with calcium. And the DE is good too.

My chickens responded within a few days to oyster shells. I just added it to their feed and problem solved. Hopefully you'll have success with them too.

most likely she was deprived of calcium for a long time, adding oyster shell will help alot, and she should start having normal shells in the near future, also when she does harden up, save her uncooked shells, mash them up to itty bitty pieces and feed them back to her in her food
