First time this year for me to have chickens and am having so much fun with them. It is fun to see the different sizes but those are huge!
Nice!

Love!

The second picture in the first post made me laugh.... It could be one of those family decals that people put on the back of cars. You know, like the stick figures of mom, dad and kids. The eggs in that pic looked like a decal family! Funny!

I'd love to have those eggs for breakfast!

WOW! Those are REALLY big eggs. Incredible!

Miranda, you cracked me up! I too was looking at these comments and chuckling at work where they think I am crazy, then I read your comment and actually did laugh out loud! Oh well, if suddenly I'm missing from the forum, you will all know that they finally did take me away to the funny farm. ;)

That last picture has me giggling to myself (just barely) at work. Trying not to just burst into full out laughter with the comments... they already think I'm crazy here. Would rather not get sent to the funny farm (Oh, PUNNY!)

CAN'T WAIT to get hens next year!!! WOOHOO!!

Whoa! Poor hen!

My chicks are from November and my first egg was a double yolker. Some eggs are bigger than others, too, but that's a whopper!

I didn't get them from a local person, but out of a dozen I had 3 double yokes! I was surprised by the first one and then had 2 more! It was like Christmas morning! Good looking eggs!

Sounds like they are very happy. And what huge eggs! Do you know which hen it is that is producing such large eggs? They sound like a lot of fun.

We just let them run around the yard. they go in their coop at night and I close them up tight. so predators don't get them. They are very pampered hens. They get mash and scratch and oyters and kitchen scraps and venison carcass.

I try to go out and snuggle each one everyday. Hubby thinks I'm a little crazy for giving them so much attention. But they are good hens and provide us with good eggs and lots of pleasure.

Do your hens free range or get moved in a chicken tractor? I've had some laying hens for a couple years now, and I find mine lay huge eggs like yours when they're out in the yard (in a tractor for us - dairy regulations won't allow them to be with the cows and they will not stay out of the barn). I figured it must be the age of the chickens and the fact that they're getting the bugs and such they need. My nephew has some bantams here for 4-H and it's quite funny to see the eggs side by side!

We had one that layed huge eggs for about 2 weeks then they went back to normal size. Congratulations! Whatever you are doing keep it up! We never could figure out why ours were so large. No, they were not double yolk. I love seeing the diversity of eggs our girls give us sometimes.

I have no idea what breed they are. We have Red hens and some black hens. They all have been given to us as one year olds. I have not done any chicks yet.

All I know is they lay eggs and I get to love them and play with them everyday.
