I have a 1 year old chicken who will walk normally for a bit, then kind of walk in a crouch close to the ground like she can't straighten her legs to stand upright. She is still scratching around, and was on her perch last night. It's been going on for a few days now, and seems to be getting worse.

I looked at her feet and legs, and couldn't see anything obvious.

Any ideas?

I had a hen that couldn't walk and a vet gave her a shot for parasites - she expelled them and in a day or so was back on her weak feet

I was going to suggest Mareks.
I'm sorry for your poor chook.

Jennifer I have a hen that has been doing the same thing for about a week. She is pretty much totally paralyzed today. I think it is either mareks disease or the rooster was too rough on her. I'm going to put her out of her misery this evening.

I just checked - she doesn't feel egg bound. Hmmm.

It's so strange. She just jumped from the ground up to the top of my front porch steps. But then she'll walk normally for a few minutes, then just sort of drop into a crouch-walk like her legs can't hold her up or stay straight anymore. So strange....
