Does anyone know how to keep unwanted pests out of our bird houses? Last year we had baby bluebirds in one of our bluebird houses and my hubby just happened to see a big black snake hanging out of it. By the time he got to it the babies where already gone. And this year we had more babies in the same house, been watching and listening to them, anxious to see them fly probably in a few days. Then right after dark tonight we were sitting here with the window still open and I heard the babies chirping like something was wrong, so my hubby went out this time to see what was going on and there was a flying squirrel in the house. He thinks a couple babies got out but the rest were dead. I am so upset I could cry. Call me crazy, but !!!!
Any advise appreciated !!!
Have a good night, Hugs Sandy

Thanks Kris, I guess that is how nature goes. It's just sad

Sandy, I'm so sorry. I don't know what to tell you other than put the house in a different place? I have bluebird houses but they all have sparrows in them. The bluebirds nest in the tree "condo" in the yard. There are so many different birds in the old tree. I love it. But it makes me mad that the sparrows take over the bluebird houses every year. I hope you get some good suggestions soon. And I'm so sorry this happens.
