After five months of being dogless, I finally went to a shelter--and came home with Jaxon! He appears to be a hound-boxer mix. He's about one year old, VERY playful, quiet, and just full of himself. He's met my neighbor and he's very friendly. He loves to chew. Just a big, friendly puppy. He has some of the brindle markings of a boxer and he has the boxer forehead. The rest is all hound---floppy ears, long tail that likes to wag, and he loves to sniff. He seems very happy to be here. He needs some training and it'll be a while before I allow him in the house. He can go in the garage and I have a crate out there that I'll slowly introduce him to (he's not housebroken). I'm really looking forward to training him. He knows "sit" and he understands "no!". It feels good to have a canine companion.

I looked up "Plothound" on the internet and that's where Jaxon gets his brindle markings from. But I don't think he's purebred. His coat is a little bit longer than a purebred's. I'd heard of Plothounds but I'd never seen one before. He has a lot of endurance. I think he'll enjoy hiking with me. He's enjoying being outside in the green grass. A lot better than the shelter where he was with the other dogs. He's only barked a few times, and then only when he saw my neighbor's dog. I took some pictures but they're not too good so I'm going to take some more.

I am trying to be the person my dogs think I am.

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.
