..We lost all of our Rhode Island Reds and our one little turkey in the storm last night. The small temporary coop that they were in blew over and the rain poured in through the side slats..Sad day at Quinn Family Farms:(

Thanks everyone! We have a large house/coop that will be completed this week so the next group should be much better off! :)

so sorry, had losses in the past when we would get a freeze outa left feild, going from high 70s and high 40s to high 40s and low 29s over night and even the older chicks would pile on each other and suffate the ones on the bottom, it really is hard to find a whole mess of them gone in one night...

Oh how sad, Jessica. I like will2farm's idea for a future solution. But meanwhile, have a hug from me too.

Oh Jessica, I'm sorry to hear about the chicks. I had an idea though. What about a calf hutch? They can be staked to the ground and warm nicely with a heat lamp in them. Just a thought, good luck!

We had a flash flood in February and I lost some chicks that were sleeping under mama hen. It was very sad. Sorry to hear about yours. :0(

Ugh Jessica, I had that happen once with a bunch of chicks. It was during the day so I was able to save a bunch of young chicks that were in a broodhouse. They were floating around, and sure were cold. Sorry Sweetie, hugs.

We can still get replacements. These were only a few weeks old, but they were doing so well so it's a hard loss. And Kristin, we are about 2-3 hours west of Chattanooga. It rained pretty hard and got a little more violent than we had expected:(

So sorry to hear of your loss. Losing animals is harder than losing equipment. Those of us who love animals feel a responsibility for them and its hard when things are beyond our control.
Is it too late to get replacements? Some hatcheries close down after peak season, you might need to depend on mail order.

That is sad news. How far are you from Chattanooga? It just rained here. And still is. I think we have some storms for today. I'm so sorry for the loss of your chickens.
