We have a new Longhorn baby in our pasture! Actually she's half Angus and half Longhorn. You may recall some pics some time back of our "Siete" heifer calf. Strikingly marked black and white!

She now has a little sister, "PEPPER", and her markings are very similar. She is two days old.
She's a cutie and I'm hoping to be able to touch her soon. It was raining lightly and I didn't want to linger.
Thanks for letting me share!
CJ

This is mom, Ebony, Pepper and Siete. If you saw pics of Siete when she was born I mentioned white markings on her head that looked like a tiara. She has always been a prissy, prancy little "princess".

Pepper doesn't have any white markings on her head.

Was talking with our farmgirl, Sharon . . aka "calicogirl" this morning. She just lives about 7 miles from me and I told her she needed to come SOON if she wanted to touch our baby!
So, maybe she'll make it over this week and can do that. Pics then, for sure.

AND, Siete came and touched my hand with her nose, sniffing it. AND, Huntly, one of the young steers came up and licked my hand . . . nope, I don't mind cow slobbers, not one bit!
Peyrone, our year old steer, came REAL close, sniffing me, but he didn't touch

AND, I got all kinds of butterfly kisses yesterday from our llama, Rocky! He's soooooo funny! Loves the smell of my toothpaste!

YIPPEE! SKIPPEE! I was able to get my farmgirl hands on this little baby! YAY!!!
She was sleeping at the bottom of the pasture by the fence with her back to the fence. I tied my dog to the fence further down so she wouldn't startle "Pepper". Quietly crouched down and crept to the fence, put my hands through the fence and petted her sweet, furry little body for a couple minutes! Eventually she woke up, but I was being gentle so she probably thought her momma was nudging her.

I'm happy now! I got to touch her! YAY!!!

"Pepper" is growing, getting more and more feisty! I have not been able to get close enough to touch her and the opportunity to do so probably will get by me. Pretty soon she'll be way to independent and wary.

Thanks, girls, for sharing this joy with me.

Fortunately, "Pepper's" momma is the only momma in the pasture without horns! (Siete doesn't have horns either)
All the rest of them, bull and steers included all have horns, and they are Longhorn-ish!

We'll see if I can get close to her today!

I'm just amazed at the markings of Longhorns . . . just so different and so beautiful!

According to my hubby, "Pepper" is much like her sister "Siete" in that she too is a prissy, prancy little thing! Hmmmmmmm!
Thanks for looking! I gotta go to the pasture soon while she's napping to see if I can get my hands on her!

Adorable! What a beautiful baby!
We had dairy cattle when I was growing up. I preferred helping with the calves to any housework.
