I just went this morning and got my very first flock of chickens! The babies are settling into their new home, and keeping a wary eye on the two dogs, who are very interested in the new additions!

they are so sweet. I remember when my ladies were that little. cherish the little cheeps that they make.
I loved their soft cheeps.

Give me the simple country life.

The light brown ones are Buff Orpingtons, the black ones are Black Sex Links, and the multi-colores ones are Easter Eggers!

magnoliakathy- I let the dogs sniff the box two. The black lab is a trained bird dog, and was very interested in sniffing them, but once they were in the tub, she lost interest. The Australian Shephard keeps sitting and looking into the cage for minutes at a time. He seems fascinated! He's been very well behaved around my in-law's chickens, so I'm not too worried, but I'm watching him!

I let LeaLou sniff the new chicks when they arrive and after they are out of the brooder cage and on the ground in a brooding pen, I let her come in with me to feed and supervise her closely. Mostly she just wants to sniff and eat the chick starter. Remember this is LeaLou farm-dog-in-training and she is doing very well.
