Is there a cheap unit we can rig up to the horses fencing, to solar power it for an electric zap? Say just the top wire on the fence? The horse broke the fencing again, by leaning over to get grass. Hmpf!

one thing for sure you need good grounding. 4 rods helps. in a place that stays damp. just a thought

We bought our non solar charger on Amazon for half of TSCs prices. I think we paid $29.99 and it's doing great.

I don't think there is a "cheap" solar fencer. They are pricey. We had one that got hit by lightning. We usually tried to disconnect it when ever there was a storm coming, but it is a mile up the road, so didn't always get it done.

i have a parmak solar charger.. i love it. now and then it will stop. its if i forget to wipe the face plate off. if we get too many cludy days it stops. most of the time i just walk by and hear the click. we learned long ago to have excellent ground rods. some folks here use 4. we are dry desert. the ground rods need to stay mist. hope this helps happy days to you

If you are clever, hook the fence charger to a car or truck battery. You'll have to put a battery charger on it at least once a week but it will work. We did that with our horse initially when I was a kid. Then we ran an extension cord to my dad's garage.

Didn't you know that the grass is ALWAYS greener on the other side of the fence.LOL..., yes there are many companys out there that sell solar powered electric fence supplies, just google it and you will find many...also make sure the wire has white cloth strips hanging so your horse can see it...also some horses will respect shinny things hanging from a fence that will dance in the breeze just enough to keep them off the fence...
