Can anyone tell me the best books to read for someone wanting to raise a few Alpaca some day (this could be years down the road)? Like me?

Try Storey's Guide to Raising Llamas as well as Hobby Farms Llamas & Alpacas: Keeping a Small-Scale Camelid Herd. The first book is by Gale Birutta and the second is by Sue Weaver. If I ever get some land in the country I want some llamas/alpacas. Good luck!

are they any farmers near you could talk to? the goat farm near us has a fiber festival twice a year, and there are usually two or three breeders/farmers there that are more than willing to talk with you about their babies.
they are so beautiful. those eyes, big deep pools you could get lost in.
Some dreams are worth the risk it takes to make them real.
Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footsteps on the moon. |

Oh, I want to have Alpaca one day, too. I have a friend that has a few just because she wanted some. She's not trying to sell the fiber or anything. Her hubby thinks they're cute but gripes about them being a money waster and not a money maker. ha ha I'm afraid that would be my situation, too.
I usually pick up a 'Storey's Guide' to whatever animal I need basic information on. Almost all the books are titled "How to Raise__________"
