Our dog Teak, has been having seizures for a bit now, but she was about 18-19 and we knew we didn't have long with her and decided not to put her down last summer.Last night around 7 she had a severe seizure and was fading from there on out during the night. This morning we decided to put her down because she just kept hanging on and seemed to be in a lot of pain. It's always so hard to make that call, to euthanize some one that you've loved for nearly two decades. She died on the way to the vet and we were at least there with her. We are having her cremated and asking for a paw print plaque to add to our pet memory collection.

She was the best dog and always had more heart than she should have at her size. She was a feisty little basset mix, we think that the mix part was red heeler. We will miss her terribly and it'll be a while before we get another dog to keep Pook the pom company.

Some where in heaven Teak isbegging intently at the table for a bit of steak.

RIP sweetheart.

Boy howdy this has been a terrible month for farmgirl pets. I'm so sorry, Annika. Teak was a lovely girl and I know, a beloved companion. I am glad that you were with her when she passed. It isn't so easy on you, but it was better for her to be with her loved ones.
Thinking of you.

Blessing to you and your family on the tremendous loss of Teak. She looked like a beautiful dog and I know she had a long and happy life with you. Teak is not alone and is now in that peaceful and wondrous place with all of the pets that we farmgirl sisters have lost.

Oh, Annika - I'm so, so sorry! Reading your words just made me cry! How hard to be without such a beloved member of the family! Żou're right though - just like in the picture, Teak is running free in the glorious fields of Heaven, chasing butterflies, and sitting at the Master's feet under the table, having her ears lovingly scratched and receiving the best steak bites ever! God bless and comfort your heart! Hugs - Nini

I am trying to be the person my dogs think I am.

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

This is Teak this last early October in the big open field behind our house. She always turned her head and didn't like having her picture taken so I always had to catch her with out her seeing me with the camera. She was a short basset legged dog so she kind of disappears in the grass. I miss my sweet girl. Two of our neighbors have horses in the joining fields and we'd always walk around the fence lines to say hello. She loved all other animals and once tried to bring a baby skunk into the house. We found her nosing and mothering it in her dog bed =}

It's so hard to lose a pet you love after so many years. Maybe Teak and my Boxer are now playing together in heaven. ((((Hugs)))

Oh, Annika! Hugs to you - such a hard hard thing to go through. So hard to make that decision to euthanize (we just put our 12 year old lab down two weeks ago) but what a comfort to know you were there with her when she died on the way to the vet. So hard, Annika. What a great life you gave to Teak and she is surely loved and will be missed.

Annika, I can't help from crying when I read of a pet passing away. I am so sorry for your loss. I'm sure Teak had more than one bite of steak. Hugs.
