Posted - Aug 20 2012 : 6:09:07 PM Stay pregnant? I have friends who have gotten some about 4 months ago and the people they got them from said the female might be pregnant. Is there a way to tell if she is?

Posted - Aug 20 2012 : 7:26:22 PM I agree with rschaaf, an u/s is your best bet. That would give them the most amount of information. Minis are often just fat so it can be easy to mistake them as being pregnant when they really aren't.

Posted - Aug 20 2012 : 6:29:11 PM if they are like other horses, it should be about 11 months--give or take. the best way to tell is to have the vet come out and do an ultrasound. obviously, palpating would be hard depending on the size of the mare. by ultra sound, this way they could tell size, check for abnormalities, heartbeat, etc. when i worked for an equine vet he had this thing on the ultrasound where you could measure the eye of the foul and get an estimate of age.
