Does any one here use fodder feeds? If so how do you like it.
Im thinking about building a small system for my farm this year beacuse of hay prices.
You can look at them at http://www.farmtek.com/farm/supplies/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10052&storeId=10001&langId=-1&division=FarmTek&productId=614017
thinking that it might save some mony and be healthier for the animals. any thought would be great. will post how it works out.

fodder is a grain that is sprouted to about 6" high then fed to the animals. Been doing alot of reading on it, really interested in it for the poultry as we raise 1000 birds, we feed them alfalfa in the winter to get them some greens. Also thinking about it for the horse and mule, along with the cow and goats. It only replaces the grain type feed, not the hay.

Not sure what fodder is. I assume it's some sort of leftover stuff? I used to have a friend who was an old man and he fed corn stalks to his horses in the winter, but I don't think I would try it with my racehorses. Sheesh just look at them wrong and they might colic. That's probably not what you are calling fodder anyway. He called it that. Yeah I don't think I would try it with any horse. Isn't fodder sort of fermented grain and kind of hot? Probably kill a horse, yup . Might not want to give it to a goat either. They are pretty easy to bloat.

You can't feed fodder to horses. Too much bad bacteria that will hurt their guts. Sorry.

There is a huge discussion on keeping a family cow forum, that may be helpful to you. My friend feeds fodder, and she really likes it. She made her own system.
