Well my computer seems to only be letting me post these 2 pics right now.....The little filly got sick yesterday and we got her to the vet barely in time. She got a germ from the dirt I guess, but she is doing much better today. Her name is Gracie.

Laura,
I just saw your post and am so sorry to hear about losing Gracie. I know how excited you were about her, and how difficult it is to loose a pet.
I hope that Bambi is doing better, and coming around to be herself again.
Hugs to you all,

~Laurie

Laura,

I haven't been on in awhile. I'm so sorry to read the sad news. I remember a pretty little baby mule of the exact same color who had the same issues and didn't make it. I wanted to call her Rose, but my friend who was the breeder wouldn't name her until she knew she was going to make it.

Thanks again ladies for all of your sweetness, it means a lot to me. Bambi is doing ok but she is very sad. She is hanging out with the other horses but sort of acts as though she doesn't know where her purpose is right now. Her pain is the hardest part of this. We are trying to give her alot of love and goodies. She loves to eat goodies, probably more than any of my other horses.

Thank you for the prayers ladies. We have been to the vet twice and she got plasma both times and IV and a bunch of antibiotics. She has a horrible infection and has diahrea real bad. It apparently is because the mare didn't make any colostrum and doesnt really have enough milk either. It turns out partly because she is older and partly because I didn't vaccinate a month before she foaled. I was told it might cause a fever and make her abort, bad advice. I did not realize that it affected the colostrum so much. She has had foals ok before but she is older now. I thought that it would give the foal a minimal boost. I had no idea it would help the mare to make better colostrum. Just one of those hard and expensive lessons. We have been giving her round the clock care and she has a 50 50 chance.
