In case ya'll didn't know, the OFFICIAL state bird of Florida is the SNOW BIRD! [I.E. the loving nickname us native's have given to the retirees from up north that make FL their winter home... the snow bird] :-) Just kidding!

Florida's state bird is the Mockingbird! ...shared by a few other states too, MS, AK, TN, and TX.

Speaking of birds I saw a great movie the other day with Steve Martin, Jack Black, and Owen Wilson in it, called "The Big Year"
Got it out of the red box and it was well worth a dollar and change to rent. It's about birding and some life lessons too.

Minnesota's State Bird is the COMMON LOON! They are so beautiful and I love hearing them on the lakes in the morning and evening! I'm hoping some move in close to us...but I think they prefer northern MN and WI.

The state bird for the great state of Illinois is the Northern Cardinal. Our state flower is the wood violet, and our state tree is the White Oak, Quercus alba. I made my boy scouts learn the wood violet and tree as part of our Plant Science and Gardening Merit Badge workshops. Because I'm mean that way ;P
