While technically not considered a "barnyard buddy" I'd be mighty miserable without my scaled babies. I can't be the only farmgirl who loves reptiles and amphibians. Currently we have 2 boas (a red tail and a columbian--Nephthys and Isis) and a blue tongue skink (peewee). Over the years I've had the pleasure of a variety of snakes, lizards and frogs, but boas are my soft spot. That's Nephthys and I at an SMA Angels fundraiser. Isis is a rescue (as was Nephthys) and I don't have any pics of her yet.

Beautiful picture,I used to keep and breed Blood Pythons,Burmese Pythons and Boa Constrictors and had various other snakes and reptiles through the years,I still love them but gave them up due to space requirements and life changes.

We go to a reptile fest here in Chicago every year. No sales, just people showing their pets and teaching about them.

Thanks! Glad to see other herpers! Years and years ago, my ex-husband and I had started towards a "breeding program" and I put that in quotes because we were both really young and inexperienced, lol. Alot has changed since then. I still love my scaly friends but no longer have any interest in breeding. That fundraiser was TONS of fun; I wish they'd do it again but 2010 was the last year of it. It was called "Pirates of the Caribbean Invade Buckhead", Nephthys and I were dancing on the Black Pearl with the pirates. I worked for hours making that costume, although I didn't make the top.

Have any of you been to the Expo in Daytona? The last time I went was when it was in Orlando (for the last time) I think in 1999 or 2000. I have been really wanting to go back, but just haven't been able to. Micah, who do you get your breeders from? I've gotten several snakes from Greg Graziani over the years--actually all of my very first snakes (except 1) came from him. He's got some GORGEOUS ball pythons.

I have a rescued nearly 5' long ball python named "Stone" due to his beautiful earth tone patterned scales =) I love geckos and all manner of other reptiles and amphibians. I'm not a pet spider/insect type person, but just about everything else goes! I have a life long love of reptiles =)

Gorgeous boa and I love your costume Rachel!

I have two box turtles one adopted then one bought to be her friend. Blink (because she lost one eye before I got her) had eggs last fall but nothing hached we are ready though if she tries again. Diego is her friend, a much younger boyfriend, my four year old named him. They are fun but they don't really appreciate Montana winters, even from inside.

I had a pet turtle once--just tonight, a friend gave me a dragon figurine for my upcoming birthday and I set it on my computer desk for inspiration. I have birds, which are descended from reptiles. I like lizards and turtles best. Not too long ago, I saw an albino python, and that snake was BEAUTIFUL. I had two garter snakes in my compost bin last summer. People think snakes are slimy but they're actually smooth and warm to the touch. As long as you love your snakes, that's all that matters.

Pretty boa!

I'm down to 2 ball pythons from 17. I'm redoing my breeding program so I should have some more soon. :). I also have a handful of crested geckos and am searching for the perfect knob tail gecko pair. I think I'm going to have to get back into Asian rat snakes too... I just can't stay away from them!

Glad to see another herp keeper on here!

My daughter has 2 ball pythons, they are both as sweet and gentle as can be, anyone can handle them...
